Subject: 2.5m obslog 20200531 (SJD 59001) From: kpan@apo.nmsu.edu Date: Mon, 1 Jun 2020 10:57:42 +0000 (UTC) APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Sunday May 31, 2020 (SJD 59001) ---- Observing Team ---- Kaike Pan Conor Sayres (online) John Downey (came to the site for MCP issue). ---- Observing Plan ---- Take fiducial data and check out instruments. ---- Observing Summary ---- Checkout systems. Took test exposures: hartmann and cals data for BOSS and APOGEE.Guider dark, flat etc. All work correctly. Collected a set of fiducial data. Notes: 1. Replace 180L dewar on SP1 side, which is at 40 lb. 2. axes were disconnected from tcc. "tcc axis connected output error (see log). Restarting tcc and mcp didn't solved the issue. Somehow, "tcc axis connect" worked after a "mcp iack" (not sure if this is coincidence because mcp became unresponsive later on, so this may be due some issue on mcp). 3.MCP became unresponsive at 7:00. On the rack, +5V indicator was red. JohnD power cycled the mcp crate, that fixed the issue. ---- Observing Log ---- 02:50Z: started ventilation. axes are found disconnected. Tried "tcc axis connect", restarted tcc, they didn't solved the issue. Below is related error message: 04:04:14 OBSERVER.conor 6 tcc f text="Sub-command(s) failed: : SDSSAxisDevice(rot1) failed to connect: Sub-command(s) failed: INIT: Timed out; : SDSSAxisDevice(alt) failed to connect: Sub-command(s) failed: INIT: Timed out; STATUS: disconnected; : SDSSAxisDevice(az) failed to connect: Sub-command(s) failed: INIT: Timed out; STATUS: disconnected" 04:04:14 CmdDone: OBSERVER.conor 6 tcc axis connect. 04:09:24 OBSERVER.conor 14 tcc f text="Sub-command(s) failed: : SDSSAxisDevice(alt) failed to connect: Sub-command(s) failed: INIT: Timed out" 04:09:24 CmdDone: OBSERVER.conor 14 tcc axis connect alt Called Conor who comes online to help. Finally, we did a "mcp iack", the next "tcc axis connect" connected all three axes. Took APOGEE evening cal data and confirm they are good. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- mjd i UT File/Exp Imtype Nread A/B Dth Ct-Plate Arch Offset %Flux Comm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 59001 1 03:35 34390001 Dark 3 A 13.0 17-12533 a-b-c - - 59001 2 03:42 34390002 Dark 60 A 13.0 17-12533 a-b-c - - 59001 3 03:53 34390003 QuarFlat 10 A 13.0 17-12533 a-b-c - 49 59001 4 03:55 34390004 Arc-Thar 12 A 13.0 17-12533 a-b-c -2.94 - 59001 5 03:57 34390005 Arc-Une 40 A 13.0 17-12533 a-b-c - - 59001 6 04:04 34390006 Arc-Thar 12 B 13.5 17-12533 a-b-c -2.43 - 59001 7 04:06 34390007 Arc-Une 40 B 13.5 17-12533 a-b-c - - 59001 8 04:14 34390008 Dark 60 A 13.0 17-12533 a-b-c - - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Took BOSS cal and hartmann exposures, confirmed they are work, and sop and hartmann actor work corrected.
