Subject: 2.5m obslog 20190919 (SJD 58746) From: dgatlin@apo.nmsu.edu Date: Fri, 20 Sep 2019 11:23:08 +0000 (UTC) APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Thursday September 19, 2019 (SJD 58746) ---- Observing Team ---- Katie Grabowski Dmitry Bizyaev Dylan Gatlin (training) ---- Observing Plan ---- Thu 19 SEP 2019 58746.0 0.74 02:13 12:17 19:04 05:10 ---- MaNGA until 04:30 ( 2.3 h), then MaStar until 06:30 ( 2.0 h), then APOGEE( 5.8 h) ---- Observing Summary ---- We lost 2.3 hours for MaNGA, 2.0 hours for MaStars, and 5.8 hours of APOGEE, all due to weather. ### Notes for day staff and developers # We had trouble on site getting to the TRAC wiki page, so we couldn't see the observing plan. Joel requested a manual intervention reboot on internal-vm at Utah. It's in progress but will take a while to do the file system check. It was back online just before sunset. # Most of the cartridge carts have wide wheels (~4cm), but one or two of them has thin wheels (~2cm). When we tried to load cartridge 2 during afternoon checkout, we didn't want to roll the thin-wheeled cart onto the grating which are about the same width. If possible, we would prefer the first cartridge for the night to be on a wide-wheeled cart so that we can roll it out to the enclosure safely. We're still able to load a thin-wheeled cart after opening because there's no need to roll over the grating in that case. # We laid down absorbing pads in the upper and lower enclosure. ---- Observing Log ---- Upon opening STUI, the BOSS instrument window showed the status was idle, but there's no information any of the actuators, and the shutter and hartmann statuses are ? Boss instrument failed during test actors script with this error: 21:53:20 OBSERVER.kgrabow 12 hub f NoTarget="the target named ecamera is not connected" 21:53:20 OBSERVER.kgrabow 11 boss f text="command failed: error('Invalid response from Netburner.',) at /home/sdss4/products/Linux64/bossICC/v4_0/python/bossICC/DAQInterface.py:1443" Only 4 of last night's 5 long darks completed. There are no half-read exposures, so it's impossible to tell whether the problem was on sp 1 or sp2. When the cold observer tested the actors all the information came back. ### Afternoon checkout.
