Night: ====== 01:13Z - Opened enclosure and started fill. Saved nominal mirror numbers after homing and relaxing. 01:50Z - Switched to fiducial version v1_134. Inst="engcam"; InstPos=CA1 Took two 20-pt models, in seeing ~1.5 at the start with some light clouds passing through. We tested the first model with the rotator fiducial data, and the second without the rotator fiducial data. We then compared the TPOINT results with all 13 coefficients: * use * fit WITH ROTATOR INCLUDED: 2.36, 3.99 WITHOUT ROTATOR: 1.69, 2.85 (and taken with increased clouds and seeing) Based on these results, it is slightly better to run the pointing model data omitting the rotator completely. 03:45Z - Started 152 star model, with magnitudes 8.4-9.8. Canceled model due to poor seeing. Refocused and tried again. The focus drifted a lot since the initial 20pt model. 04:03Z - Started another 152 pt model, this time with seeing 1.2-1.7" with some clouds. 2X out-of-closed-loop events 08:00Z - Clouds extremely thick now. Unable to gather information on the past several stars (143-146). 1X out-of-closed-loop event. The weather was not cooperative tonight. Seeing varies from 1.2 to 3.5", and cloudy came and went. One quarter of data was taken with seeing poorer than 2.5". Because of clouds, we had to adjust exposure time between 3 sec and 30 seconds. Anyway, here is the results. With our normal procedures, we got: *fix *fit ange value sigma 1 IE -4.02 2 IA +99.91 3 PZZ1 +122.84 4 AN -8.05 5 AW +9.96 6 CA -20.34 7 HWCA2 -0.78 8 HWSA2 +0.20 9 HNCA1 +0.25 10 HNSA1 +1.21 11 ACEC -0.27 12 ACES -0.15 13 TX +2.64 Sky RMS = 6.14 Popn SD = 6.14 * use ie ia pzz1 an aw ca * fit coeff change value sigma 1 IE +1.137 -2.89 0.558 2 IA -3.257 +96.66 0.901 3 PZZ1 +2.190 +125.03 0.695 4 AN -2.002 -10.05 0.257 5 AW +4.285 +14.25 0.258 6 CA -1.275 -21.62 0.617 7 HWCA2 -0.78 8 HWSA2 +0.20 9 HNCA1 +0.25 10 HNSA1 +1.21 11 ACEC -0.27 12 ACES -0.15 13 TX +2.64 Sky RMS = 2.79 Popn SD = 2.85 * use * fit coeff change value sigma 1 IE +0.244 -2.64 0.735 2 IA -0.214 +96.44 0.881 3 PZZ1 -1.623 +123.40 2.572 4 AN +0.302 -9.75 0.311 5 AW +0.153 +14.40 0.313 6 CA +0.358 -21.26 0.657 7 HWCA2 -0.033 -0.81 0.418 8 HWSA2 +0.088 +0.29 0.412 9 HNCA1 -1.066 -0.82 0.493 10 HNSA1 -0.679 +0.53 0.492 11 ACEC +0.567 +0.29 0.586 12 ACES -1.242 -1.39 0.587 13 TX +0.822 +3.46 1.262 Sky RMS = 2.66 Popn SD = 2.78 If we used different term, we got: coeff change value sigma 1 IA +0.000 +83.90 0.586 2 IE +0.000 -123.96 8.276 3 & HASA2 -0.000 -1.28 0.435 4 & ACES -0.000 -1.53 0.497 5 & HESE -0.000 +157.05 17.798 6 & HECE2 -0.000 +35.82 9.338 7 NPAE -0.000 -20.46 0.860 8 CA +0.00 9 & HSCE3 -0.000 -2.92 0.703 10 AN +0.000 -9.66 0.273 11 AW +0.000 +14.31 0.247 12 & HWCA2 +0.000 -0.90 0.352 13 TF -0.000 +127.92 7.736 Sky RMS = 2.62 Popn SD = 2.72 Then we tested the old pointing models (from 2018-12-23) and the new one with the same fitting procedure with stars at different coordinates and different rotator angles, we could not tell differences in term of scatter (around the desired center, x=256, y=256), and averages of positions for the same stars at rotator angles of 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees. Both pointing models have scatters of +/- 30 pixels or so with averages very close to 256. The pointing model with new fitting terms has similar fitting rms, and average positions (close to 256), but scatters of star positions are about one half of the other models, at +/- 15 pixels. While the models with "usual terms" have positions from 233 to 285, the new one gives stars positions from 243 to 271. So we implemented the model with new terms. 13:08Z - Mounted cart 14, switched back to SPECTRO instrument block, and closed the enclosure. Started cals. ---- Mirror Numbers ---- PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000; MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A: -5.321 -5.321 Axial B: -5.075 -5.075 Axial C: -5.341 -5.34 Trans D: 10.717 10.723 Lateral E: 9.0805 9.0932 Lateral F: 14.1732 14.1605 GALILS Commanded: 10250 -1100 7100 16850 12400 12400 Actual: 10250 -1100 7100 16850 12400 12400 SETMIR VALUES PrimDesOrient: 0.0 3.27 2.1 115.0 -178.65 PrimOrient: -1.06 3.29 2.19 115.07 -177.78 SECONDARY: ---------- Focus: 0.0000 Air temp: -1.7 Altitude: 30.3 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A: -0.701 -0.704 Axial B: -0.693 -0.694 Axial C: -0.082 -0.084 Trans D: -0.101 -0.099 GALILS Commanded: 870800 878600 835600 -5750 -7500 Actual: 834039 855103 794442 -5750 -7500 SETMIR VALUES SecDesOrient: 657.0 18.54 2.85 -17.2 138.98 SecOrient: 656.96 18.55 2.85 -16.88 139.23 PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000; MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A: -5.319 -5.321 Axial B: -5.076 -5.075 Axial C: -5.337 -5.34 Trans D: 10.725 10.723 Lateral E: 9.0932 9.0932 Lateral F: 14.224 14.1605 GALILS Commanded: 10250 -1100 7100 16850 12400 12400 Actual: 10250 -1100 7100 16850 12400 12400 SETMIR VALUES PrimDesOrient: 0.0 3.27 2.1 115.0 -178.65 PrimOrient: -1.06 3.29 2.19 115.07 -177.78 SECONDARY: ---------- Focus: 0.0000 Air temp: -4.9 Altitude: 30.0 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A: -0.701 -0.704 Axial B: -0.691 -0.694 Axial C: -0.08 -0.084 Trans D: -0.098 -0.099 GALILS Commanded: 870700 876700 832800 -5750 -7450 Actual: 834240 855040 794687 -5750 -7450 SETMIR VALUES SecDesOrient: 657.0 18.54 2.85 -17.2 138.98 SecOrient: 657.08 18.49 2.8 -17.48 138.7 PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000; MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A: -5.319 -5.319 Axial B: -5.076 -5.076 Axial C: -5.337 -5.337 Trans D: 10.725 10.725 Lateral E: 9.0932 9.0932 Lateral F: 14.224 14.224 GALILS Commanded: 10250 -1100 7100 16850 12400 12400 Actual: 10250 -1100 7100 16850 12400 12400 SETMIR VALUES PrimDesOrient: 0.0 3.27 2.1 115.0 -178.65 PrimOrient: -1.06 3.29 2.19 115.07 -177.78 SECONDARY: ---------- Focus: 0.0000 Air temp: -4.9 Altitude: 30.0 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A: -0.701 -0.701 Axial B: -0.691 -0.691 Axial C: -0.081 -0.081 Trans D: -0.098 -0.098 GALILS Commanded: 870400 876900 832550 -5750 -7450 Actual: 834190 855185 794467 -5750 -7450 SETMIR VALUES SecDesOrient: 657.0 18.54 2.85 -17.2 138.98 SecOrient: 657.02 18.61 2.82 -17.47 138.62 ---- Telescope Status ---- 23:30Z Started ventilation 00:50Z encl25m : open 13:10Z encl25m : closed No interlocks bypassed Status at: 13:10Z Telescope stowed at: 121.0, 30.0, 0.0 mount Instrument mounted: cartridge = 14 Counterweights at: 430 LN2 autofill systems: Connected and turned on -180L LN2 dewar scales: SP1 148.8 lbs, 21.1 psi SP2 141.5 lbs, 20.0 psi ---- Software Used ---- STUI : 1.7.8 alerts : trunk apo : trunk boss : v4_0 -boss.specMec : 3.0.4 gcamera : v2_2 guider : 3.8.1 hartmann : 1.6.0 hub : Tag: v4.2 mcp : v7_0_4 -mcp.plc : 34 -mcp.azFiduci : v1_133 -mcp.altFiduc : v1_133 -mcp.rotFiduc : v1_133 platedb : 2.8.0 sop : 3.12.2 tcc : 1.3.1 apogee : not availble apogeecal : not availble apogeeql : v1_6_1 APO-local : trunk idlspec2d : v5_7_12 plate-mapper3 : NOCVS:v6_0_12 petunia : git autoscheduler : 1.0.1/ sdss_python_module: trunk mangadrp : trunk exported
