It sounds like it was, but galils are not = especially smart, the software is easily fooled into an inactive waiting = state where nothing happens, but it reports cached position numbers, = confusing the issue and making it not clear that nothing much is = happening. When in doubt, look at the migs. If they show change in position then = an error like this is just some kind of software bug that caused the = queued command to be canceled. >=20 > 00:01Z - Opened > # Cartridge 3 > # Acquisition fiber 3 on cart 3 showed up in the flat, but there were = no stars > in it, so we effectively had no acquisition fibers. Fiber 4 was also = dark. The purpose of reporting bad acquisition fibers is to tell us which we = need to replace, so if it shows up in the flat its not a bad fiber and = you don't need to report it. In a few cases the fiber is just dropped = from the plate and the fiber techs can check it and replug it if the = plate isn't done yet. If you have acquisition fibers (#3 and #11) in the flat, then the fiber = being dark on field is a pointing problem - the pointing is not close = enough to see a star in the ~25" field of view of the fiber. There is a = procedure for doing a spiral search in such a case. Cartridge 3 has a number of dead guide fibers, 8, 15, & 16, as well as = currently #11. Number 11 will be replaced eventually, once #3 goes too. = The acquisition fibers are the only ones we can replace, the smaller = guide fibers are all glued into the guider button that was then polished = like one big ferrule. The larger fibers in this button (two acquisition = and one tritium star) have individual ferrules secured in the button by = a set screw.
