Subject: Re: [sloan-25mlog 3644] 2.5m obslog 20170909 (SJD 58006) From: Kaike Pan Date: Sun, 10 Sep 2017 12:25:56 -0600 Hello All, Looks like the problem on cart 7 is that we are hitting movable range of = M2.=20 When I come in today, I saw the M1 is stuck near its home position, = galil at -723K (home position is -725K), The desired M2 piston position is -5744 um, could not reach there. I am = able to move M2 back to the center position, and homed it, and set it back to its default focus position = with focus set to 0, absolute position at -2375 for alt=3D30 deg. Plate 9157 is drilled for Tem=3D1 C and HA=3D-30 deg while the actually = temperature is about 15C. The difference=20 between drilled temperature and real time temperature requires a scale = of 1.00045, which requires M1 move from the sky by -4500 um. This scale change requires M2 to move away from the = sky by -4500 um too. Because of the=20 real M2 position (relative to M1) is at 1800 um , this means the final = position of M2 needs to be at (-4500 um -1800 um) =3D-6300 um, which is out of its moveable range.=20 For the long term, I think that we need to put M2 back where it was.=20 For the short term, I need to select plates with drilled temperature not = colder more than 8 degrees or so. All MaNGA plates and eBOSS plates are drilled for temp =3D 5C. Depends on = altitude, HA etc, we may, may not be able to=20 set scale and focus properly on these plates.=20 Nathan, for tonight, we checked that there are two plugged plates: plate = 9517 and 9519 on cart 9 and cart 7, are drilled for Temp=3D1.0. I think that we will run into the same = problem as last night. I understand that pluggers has completed to plug all requested plates for tonight. But you may want = to ask JohnD whether it is possible to ask pluggers to plug two more plates. Fortunately, both of these plates = are scheduled for the 2nd half of the night. So it will be fine if you can get replacements plugged by the middle = night.=20 John, I talked to Muwen who is ok to plug two more plates after she = comes back from Alamogordo this evening.
