Tasks completed: checked actors, scripts, STUI. Taken 25 biases and 3 darks. Zeroed sp2 collimator motors Problems discovered: - Guider doesn't work: gcamera doesn't take exposures. See "problems". - sp1 pistons "a" and "b" don't move. - SoS complains about r1 noise level - sop has grey buttons that don't clear after the sop restart - sp1 (b,r) failed to take exposures once tonight Attempted to adjust XMID and WAVEMID tonight, but the procedure did not converge. ---- Observing Plan ---- Start up Spectro monthly biases and darks. Home collimator Adjust XMID and WMID. ---- Observing Log ---- Startup ======= - Checked actors. platedb actor showed in red. It did not reload via STUI. Restarted on sdss4-hub. Sop "Load Cartridge" came to grey buttons, but nothing actually happened. Restarted sop actor. It did not help to clear the buttons, - Guider actor did not respond after that. Same reloaded guiderActor. It did not stop gently,but stopped meanly. - Loaded cart 11 with guider actor. It worked. - Guider indicated T=-55.8C or so. Since Dan and John continue to work on guider, I suspect it is OK for tonight. 02:06Z enclosure is dark enough. Started 25 biases and 3 darks. In the middle, at 2:17Z it did not complete b1 & r1 exposures, and silently failed, showing "reading out" status in BOSS GUI. At the same time, LN2 alert was generated, and I went to force fill LN2 and monitor it. Most probably, the LN2 alert led to the read out fail. Discovered the hanging later. boss clearExposure and boss reloadControllers issued. boss iack was mandatory to continue.
