All MANGA time (5.0 hours) is lost due to the weather. 24 min of APOGEE time were lost to the weather. 1 hour 05 min of APOGEE time was lost due to the manipulator out of order. APOGEE plates observed: 6 8933 MJ195.03873+27.64617 GSOGTF APOGEE only observations because of the problems 2 x ABBA. We got useful signal. Note that the plate is very off its visibility range. 1 fiber missing, 13 faint. ** Problems: the outside manipulator doesn't work. See day log and explanations of Dan L and James P. We've stuck with cartridge 6 for tonight. --- Training: Nathan, Chilean APOGEE-II crew, and SDSS observers participated in joint observing activities. Night: ------ We were unable to open at sunset because of clouds and nearby radar returns. Dan Long and James Parker continue their work on the external cartridge manipulator. They worked hard until almost midnight, but the problem will take place until tomorrow. 5:50Z shower alert triggered. We have SNOW on site. The sky gets cleared up completely. The only cartridge on the telescope that we can use has been expired. With Nathan in the control room we decided that we could still get useful signal for APOGEE, even if the plate is not too much off its visibility range. We stayed observing up to 3 hours from the designed HA. Only last pair of exposures have really low S/N. Most of the exposures are good for APOGEE. 1 hour 05 min lost due to the manipulator out of order.
