Here is the result: We pull out the fuse for 7:30 and 9:00 clock FF petals. On May 13, 2014, at 3:20 PM, John K. Parejko wrote: To more fully test what happens when commanding the FFS when a fuse/motor is out, here are the tests I propose: Remove fuse from one or more petals. Open mcpMenu and Misc->MCP panel in STUI. Click "telescope" button in mcpMenu, and select "System Status" from Panels dropdown in the Interlocks panel in STUI. Open a STUI log and set the filter to "None +Actor mcp". For each test, please note the change in the following displays: * Do the petals themselves move to the right position? * What does mcpMenu report for the FFS status? With two disabled petals, mcpMenu reports the status for majority. In this case, report status of six functional petals. * What does the mcpMenu Telescope status panel show? It doesn't update, stay at the status: yellow on the left, and 8 open (white color) FFS. * What does STUI report for the "FF petals" status in that window? It reports status correctly. i.e. show how many open, how many close. The disable two are the most right two. I am not sure if if a different fuse is pulled out, will the disable petals at different positions. * What does the STUI "System Status" panel show? Show status correctly. Once again, disable two are at the most right. * Does the MCP log show any particularly relevant information? (it will output the ffsStatus keyword, which is an open|closed bitfield for each petal, but I'm wondering in particular about error messages, etc.) 01:39:11 APO.parejkoj.guider 3 platedb f text="command failed: AttributeError(\"'NoneType' object has no attribute 'label'\",) at /home/parejkoj/sdss3/ops/actors/platedbActor_mangadb/python/platedbActor/Commands/PlatedbCmd.py:164" 01:39:11 CmdDone: APO.parejkoj.guider 3 platedb loadCartridge cartridge=2 pointing=A 01:39:11 APO.parejkoj 16 guider f text="Failed to lookup plate corresponding to 2/A" 01:39:11 CmdDone: APO.parejkoj 16 guider loadCartridge pointing=A 1. Click FFS closed/open button in mcpMenu. 2. Click FF petals button in MCP STUI panel to both open and close petals. We did steps 1 and 2 in two different conditions. the first case: Keep two disabled petals being closed. 1 and 2 do the same. If we open petals from mcpMenu or MCP STUI, six functional ones will open, but will immediate close back. So that all 8 will stay close. In this case, we don't have condition of open FFS. Then, we keep disabled two to stay open. In this case, if we command to open, six functional ones will open, and stay open. If we command to close, six functional ones will close, and stay close. 3. Give Goto Field command without FFS bypass in place and with "guider" checked. (should close petals for guider flat, then open them). skipped. 4. Give Goto Field command with FFS bypass in place. We ran two tests, the first one starting with open disabled one open, six close. After guider flat, guider start normally, but the six functional petals stay closing. Then, we open all FFS, gotoField again. Six functional ones close for guider flat, but they stay close after the flat. Guider starts normal. See stars in the field. We did confirmed that if we open FFS from STUI MCP, all eight petals will stay open. Therefore, if we cannot fix the problem from the software, observers just need to open FFS after the guider flat. *************************** Manga test 03:58Z cart 2, plate 7343. MaNGA. SOGTF.
