Hi John,
   We took a look at the lamps and did not see any significant delays on =
any of them.  Usually when there is a contact problem, the lamp is =
dimmer and/or flickers in addition to the delay.  We are seeing none of =
that. =20
   I=92m curious if there is a lamp number associated with the string =
that shows the lamp state.  I=92d like to think that the lamp numbers in =
the string are sequential counting from 1, and correspond to the labels =
on the lamp controllers at the telescope, but I don=92t know that for =
sure.  If so that would indicate lamp #2 as being the laggard.  =20
   There is a known phenomenon about gas discharge tubes that when they =
have been off for a long time (many hours) and are in a dark =
environment, it can take longer to get them to start.  Since this was =
during the afternoon checkout, I suspect that this was the cause of the =
delay.  I can=92t recall if that other occurrence was under similar =
circumstances. =20
