Subject: Re: [sdss3-25mlog 1427] Re: 2.5m obslog 20131010 (MJD 56576) From: Kaike Pan Date: Fri, 11 Oct 2013 10:29:54 -0600 The relevant wording in observing plan is modified. Now it reads as:=20 Please run APOGEE autoscheduler in its full mode until a different=20 instruction is noticed.=20 However, I do want to mention that observers should not be blamed=20 on this. If I remember correctly, in opt phone calls, we discussed how observers should select APOGEE plates to cover BOSS plate gaps during scheduled BOSS time. We agreed that observers run APOGEE autoscheduler in its full mode and select APOGEE plates=20 that covers BOSS plate gaps. The observing plan does carry this reasoning for running the autosheceduler in its full mode. If this=20 is incorrect, I am the one should be blamed.=20 I guess that observers could have run the schedule in its full mode if we need APOGEE plates to cover a BOSS plate gap. I don't know if the regular mode and the full model will produce different=20 schedules for scheduled APOGEE time. If yes, It would be good if we have the information. Anyway, the full mode and regular mode=20 produced the same requested plates. I guess that sendinf me a reminder, states that APOGEE team prefer the schedule is ran in its full mode in all time, will be fine, and I will change the observing plan.=20 Cheers, -kaike On Oct 11, 2013, at 7:39 AM, kinemuchi@apo.nmsu.edu wrote: > Peter, > You are lucky I was still up when this email came through. >=20 > According to the Observing Plan, the instruction is to run > ./run_schedulerdark during dark time.
