We delayed opening slightly due to clouds. We were open for ~1 hour, enough to gather 3 exposures on cart 18 (plate 6606), but clouds soon came back and completely ruined the third exposure. We closed when the sky was completely covered in clouds. The humidity spiked a few hours later. We opened again at 09:15Z, but it was too late to observe the MANGA plate. We stayed open for another ~1.5 hours and almost finished cartridge 11 (plate 6420), but we were forced to close again for humidity. The humidity remained high for the rest of the night, and the clouds again came back. While we were closed, we homed and relaxed the primary and secondary mirrors. ---- Observing Log ---- Afternoon: --------- Collimation info (on cart 13), B2 focus ring moved by +2.0 degrees. No problem to report. 23:30Z started ventilation. Night: ====== We delayed opening slightly because of dark clouds overhead. However, they cleared out soon-after and we tried to gather a few exposures before the weather system off to our east arrived. 01:30Z - Opened enclosure and filled the spectrographs. 01:45Z - gotoField cart 18, plate 6606. Seeing 4.0"+. The altitude was extremely high (89 degrees), so we had a hard time adjusting the scale. The seeing was terrible. 02:15Z - 15 min exposure. Lots of clouds. 02:32Z - 15 min exposure. Clouds obscured guide stars for 10 minutes of the exposure. We declared this one bad. 02:49Z - Clouds filled the sky. We stopped guiding, slewed the telescope to stow, closed the FF petals, and the waited for better weather. 03:08Z - Conditions got worse. We closed but stayed ventilating. 04:30Z - Homed and relaxed the primary and secondary mirrors. Errors were all very small (no greater than plus-or-minus 50). A second set of mirror numbers were taken. Everything looks normal. 05:00Z - JohnP came in the control room and worked for awhile. 08:04Z - Clouds moved away, but humidity rose. We stopped ventilating. 09:05Z - Humidity got much better, but sadly it was not in time for MANGA observations. We started ventilating again, mounted cart 11, and opened the enclosure. We also filled each spectrograph 5lbs of nitrogen in order to guarantee they will be okay until the end of the night. Opening/closing the enclosure several times during the night spills a lot of nitrogen, so we felt that we needed to replace some nitrogen that was lost in order to make up for the long night. 09:20Z - gotoField cart 11, plate 6420. Humidity spiked. Dew point difference of 1.4. We had to close after this exposure. This means that only one more exposure is needed on this plate. Bummer. 10:55Z - We closed the enclosure and stopped ventilating. 11:40Z - Humidity got better, but now there are a lot of clouds. 12:05Z - Humidity got worse. 12:28Z - Weather not cooperating.
