I believe it was cartridge 1 that Howard was mounting on the telescope. In STUI, I noticed that the MCP window showed that the "SP2 Slit" was "Bad" and red. I asked Howard if he could try remounting the cartridge and we got the same "SP2 Slit Bad" error. I decided to go down to the telescope to visually inspect that slithead and on my way down, from 4th night tiredness, I mentally thought it was SP1, so we pulled the two carts (1 and 8 I believe) out to inspect the slitheads for any obvious signs of damage. Since we were looking at SP1, we didn't see anything, but didn't check the other slithead. We tried remounting Cart 1 and the MCP still showed "SP2 Slit Bad", and Howard lowered the instrument lift about 6 inches, then raised it back up and before the pendent showed 500lbs, the flashing green light went away and the MCP showed "SP2 Slit In". -Garrett > > On Nov 28, 2012, at 6:01 AM, hjbrew@apo.nmsu.edu wrote: > >> >> APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M >> >> OBSERVING LOG >> Tuesday November 27, 2012 >> >> (MJD 56259) >> >> ---- Observing Team ---- >> >> Garrett Ebelke >> Howard Brewington >> afternoon - Olena Malanushenko >> >> Support and otherwise >> --------------------- >> John Parejko >> Paul Harding >> Kaike Pan >> >> > . > . > . >> Notes for engCrew and developers: >> ---------------------------------- >> We lost about 15 minutes because the SP2 slit-head would not latch.
