Opened at 10:50Z for one cartridge. During the opening using MCP only (no scripts) telescope passed 6 degrees and went further down without stop. It corresponded in time with MCP slow down. See details in the log. We lost additional 8 minutes for moving telescope from 2 degrees to above 6, and then back to 6 to open. BOSS plates observed: 18 4606 - not done. We observed slowing down of tcc commands in the morning during the closure (~12:07Z). I issued "apogee dither init" and "apogee coll init" per the Observing Tips page and it returned to normal. Ventilation stopped, doors closed. 02:45Z rain sensor gave its alert, finally. 10:16Z clouds, gone, humidity dropped to normal. Started ventilation. Dewars were filled. Cart 18 mounted. 10:47Z - While preparing to open, using the MCP and a destination of 6deg, we started the slew. When the telescope hit 12deg in altitude it froze and stopped updating (as we understood a few seconds later), We looked at the telescope to see that it was still moving and when I looked back, noticed the altitude was at 3deg 45'. With all of the problems in slewing past 6deg, Garrett kept finger finger over the 's' button to kick on the brakes with the other hand on the stop button, so we were instantly able to halt the telescope. It drifted to 1deg 45'. We had to lower the counterweights to the lower limit, then clear the altitude axes multiple times to drift above 6deg before we could put the counterweights back to normal and slew back to 6deg.
