We opened close to midnight, did cart. 3 plate 5099, it was very close to the Moon (6.5 deg) and in clouds, and probably it cannot be called as finished. In thick to moderate clouds we did ASDAF and AADAF. Obtained good spectra in 3 different science fibers for Vesta HD 196944 HIP 98456 HIP 99987 HIP 101226 with cart. 3 (plate 5099). End of the night was mostly clear, observed cart. 9 plate 4941 (MARVELS and APOGEE). STUI got frozen once in the night because of lost of connection to hub. All STUI users were kicked out. SOP got frozen once after we clicked Modify button when telescope went to field. Called Craig to fix the problem. No missing spectra in MARVELS frame. Guider does not mark saturated pixels with red, it affected observations with Moon and clouds tonight. Opened ticket #1390. New counterweight value is 190. ---- Observing Log ---- Afternoon: ---------- Checked out telescope. Gathered mirror numbers. Dusted off APOGEE connector and started cals. Did not replace cartridge because it is unlikely we will open at sunset due to approaching storms. Night: ----- 01:35Z ventilation started, but we won't open soon because of a lot of clouds and radar returns around. 05:34Z opened, balance adjusted (new counterweight position is 190). cart 3 is mounted. 05:45Z gotoField with cart. 3 plate 5099 (bulge field 006-02). The Moon is very close to the field (6.5 deg)! We called Steve and he suggested to continue to observe here. End of frame 09 and first half of #10 - guider lost stars due to clouds, them we saw them far away of centers only in large fibers. Corrected, but apparently 09 and 10 collected mostly Moon signal. 06:31Z lost guide stars at exposure 13. We don't see them back for a long time. Tried to rise exposure time to 30 sec, didn't help. Tried to move telescope back to the field, but it complained" cannot move telescope once the gang connector is in there. Is it a new feature? Inconvenient! Ticket #1390 opened - we didn't noticed right away that all guide fibers are saturated - they were not marked as red. 07:33Z STUI got frozen on both landru and minidru. After ~ 2 minutes it disconnected. We reconnected again. During ASDAF my SOP window got frozen few times, but not completely: I was able to write in one field, others were unavailable. It timed out when exposure was started on another computer (in another STUI). 09:47Z cart We clicked "modify" button while telescope was slewing, trying to turn "Guider" option on.
