We had a dust and humidity spike during the short time we were open. Before we could close we accumulated: 06:30:31 Dust,1um = 15073, Integral = 9970 We took one ABBA sequence on cartridge 7, plate 5273, but had to close for the dust spike and did not get a sky flat or a lamp flat. Between clouds and terrible seeing, we don't believe the data are useful, anyway. ---- Observing Log ---- Afternoon: --------- 22:00Z - Afternoon APOGEE cals were taken twice, before and after a thorough compressed air cleaning. For the past three nights we have seen lower throughput fibers at Y = 1725 - 1750 (DS9 coordinates). In spite of the fact that previous air dustings haven't affected the throughput much here, we decided to do a before-and-after set of cals to look for a difference. There wasn't a difference (not surprised). This may be a known problem with these fibers, but maybe there should be a cleaning with a safe solvent? Night: ----- Opaque clouds at sunset.We were tempted by occasional sucker holes, but they closed back in quickly. 05:40Z - A break in the clouds. We opened. 05:44Z - Cartridge 7, plate 5273, APOGEE - field 150 -08 B ---------------------------------------------------------- GSOGTF Poor seeing, 2.7 - 7.2 " FWHM, variable cloud cover, Lost the guide stars to clouds for about 5 minutes. Don't hold your breath for good S/N on this one. During the first ABBA sequence, both the humidity and dust counts spiked. We stopped after one sequence to close and went straight to stow position, so there is no dome flat.
