Subject: 2.5m obslog 20090208 (MJD 54871) Date: Mon, 9 Feb 2009 11:29:43 +0000 (UTC) From: doravetz@apo.nmsu.edu (Dan Oravetz) APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Sunday February 8, 2009 (MJD 54871) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Audrey Simmons Dan Oravetz Telephone consult: Steph Snedden MARVELS: Nathan De Lee Liming Duo ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- MARVELS Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- We did not get on sky because of combinations of snow, humidity, clouds, wind, etc. We collected fiducial table data. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon --------- All systems checked and working properly. We did not check the spectro focus with goSpecFocus. MARVELS has a pre-selection plate at the very end of the night that we highly doubt will be observed tonight (we didn't get to it in past nights under much better conditions) and the rest of the plates are MARVELS survey plates. We shoveled a path on the sidewalk and shoveled the apron at the enclosure. Even though the snow stopped falling, we still had snow blowing off the trees, plenty of clouds, and the grounds were extremely slippery. We forced a spectro fill (it hadn't filled in ~11 hours anyway) since we planned on obtaining fiducial table data (~3 hours worth of moving), and then swapped the imager and spectro dewars. The /data partition only had 47G available, so we checked the `Data Transfer Page' for "SUCCESS" flags and then deleted MJDs 54844 and 54857-54861. Now the diskspace looks like this: Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda3 142G 116G 19G 86% / /dev/sda1 99M 30M 64M 33% /boot /dev/sdb1 917G 811G 60G 94% /data sdssfiles1p:/data1/data 1.5T 683G 710G 50% /files We did not begin ventilation because of the weather. Night ----- We collected fiducial data for all three axes: Azimuth: GC = 1234145061 - 1234148846 T = 3.10C Altitude: GC = 1234149235 - 1234150259 T = 2.44C Rotator: GC = 1234150767 - 1234154399 T = 2.16C 04:51Z - Started ventilating because there was a brief moment where conditions were fit for ventilating. 05:22Z - Stopped ventilating due to high humidity. 11:30Z - We still had fog, light snow, etc., with no near end in sight, so we called it quits. 11:31Z - endNight rejoiced. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7955 23:59Z 00:14Z 100 O -151.87 -148.05 40 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): y QA Procedures Done (y/n): y UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 58777, plate -9999 ------- 00:08 58777 0.0 bias 00:12 58778 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 23:27Z 23 19 25 284 (WNW) 269 - clouds 00:00Z 23 18 14 294 (WNW) 228 - clouds 00:32Z 22 18 18 267 (W) 291 - clouds 01:04Z 22 17 18 283 (WNW) 445 - clouds 01:37Z 22 17 11 293 (WNW) 519 - clouds 02:09Z 23 17 19 284 (WNW) 174 - clouds 02:41Z 22 16 22 284 (WNW) 434 - clouds 03:13Z 23 15 17 290 (WNW) 199 - clouds 03:45Z 23 15 19 271 (W) 193 - clouds 04:17Z 23 15 25 278 (W) 284 - clouds 04:49Z 22 16 19 266 (W) 212 - clouds 05:22Z 22 17 21 266 (W) 226 - clouds 05:52Z 21 17 20 289 (WNW) 216 - clouds 06:22Z 21 17 26 267 (W) 208 - clouds 06:52Z 21 15 18 260 (W) 237 - clouds 07:22Z 20 18 21 251 (WSW) 278 - clouds 07:53Z 20 19 17 261 (W) 279 - clouds 08:25Z 20 20 19 262 (W) 235 - clouds 08:57Z 20 20 20 260 (W) 183 - clouds 09:29Z 20 20 19 254 (WSW) 1127 - clouds 10:02Z 20 20 11 248 (WSW) 459 - clouds 10:34Z 21 20 20 267 (W) 35 - clouds 11:06Z 21 20 18 265 (W) 95 - clouds ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Swapped spectro and imager dewars in the afternoon. 04:51Z - Began ventilation.
