There was no guarantee that host2 would be up at the end of the night, so I just wrote the log as a text file. Alaina APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Wednesday December 9, 2009 (MJD 55175) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Alaina Shelden Dmitry Bizyaev Afternoon: Steph Snedden Kaike Pan ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Keep generator running! Monitor the spectro CCD temps. Stay warm! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Sky was clear, but we stayed closed because we don't trust the generator. The computers were powered down, except for host2. The imager was left on the telescope, and we left it pumping. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: -------------- 00:19Z We've been educated in how to restart the generator, how to check spectro temps, and how to shut off the imager pump. We're leaving it on the telescope and pumping, unless the generator goes down for more than about 20 minutes--then we'll shut it off. Internet was down from almost exactly 07:00Z to 08:00Z. Dmitry is waiting for Dan Long this morning (we switched off halfway through the night). Night: --------- 01:45Z Power is still running happily. Spectro temps are still happy. 03:08Z Spectro temps good, power still on (flickering a little, but still on) 03:57Z Spectro temps good. No power problems. 04:55Z Spectro temps good. Power good. 05:50Z Spectro temps good. Power good. 06:50Z Spectro temps good. Power good. 07:03Z Internet stopped working. 12:12Z Continued checking the temps every half-hour: they never changed. The internet went down from 07:00Z to 08:00Z, when a technician called us to say it was up and running again. Dmitry is waiting for Dan Long to get in this morning. ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Never opened. Telescope at 90 deg. alt with imager mounted. Counterweights at 240 LN2 autofill enabled. No interlocks bypassed. 13:30Z - Imager dewar weight: 222 lb; 00 psi 13:30Z - Spectro dewar weight: 218 lb; 13 psi The imager is being warmed for storage.
