Subject: 2.5m obslog 20070531 (MJD 54252) Date: Fri, 1 Jun 2007 03:20:25 -0600 (MDT) From: snedden@apo.nmsu.edu APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Thursday May 31, 2007 (MJD 54252) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Steph Snedden Dmitry Bizyaev visitor Brian Lee (UF) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Calibration tests - lunar part of sky brightness for spectro sky subtraction routines. ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Six lunar spectra obtained, with flats and arcs for each. Kaike, we do not need to use the back-up night tomorrow. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Delayed opening until Moon was at high enough altitude. 06:00Z - Mounted Cartridge 4, plate 2129 06:30Z - altitude slip when slewing to the target position. We cleared it and continued. 06:45Z - Scattered light (lunar spectrum test). We moved the telescope to 10 degrees north of the Moon (track 250.825,-18.067 FK5) and took six 15 minute exposures (unguided) of the moonlit sky. Each exposure was bracketed with a flat and an arc. here were cirrus clouds near the Moon, and possibly in the field at times. The clouds didn't appear to affect the flux appreciably. - Record of observations peak value peak value Frame b1 continuum b1 [OI] line @approx 5200A 5577A (e-) (e-) ===== ============= ====== 45102 (flat) 45103 (arc) 45104 6.5e3 1.5e4 45105 (flat) 45106 (arc) 45107 6.5e3 1.4e4 45108 (flat) 45109 (arc) 45110 6.0e3 1.3e4 45111 (flat) 45112 (arc) 45113 5.8e3 1.2e4 45114 (flat) 45115 (arc) 45116 5.8e3 1.2e4 45117 (flat) 45118 (arc) 45119 5.8e3 1.2e4 45120 (flat) 45121 (arc) endNight rejoiced ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 45098, plate 2129 ------- 03:48 45098 3.0 arc 03:50 45099 2.0 arc 04:25 45100 3.0 arc 04:28 45101 3.0 arc 06:02 45102 10.0 flat 06:05 45103 2.0 arc 06:26 45104 901.0 target 06:30 45105 10.0 flat 06:32 45106 2.0 arc 06:55 45107 900.0 target 06:58 45108 10.0 flat 07:00 45109 2.0 arc 07:19 45110 901.0 target 07:22 45111 10.0 flat 07:24 45112 2.0 arc 07:43 45113 900.0 target 07:46 45114 10.0 flat 07:48 45115 2.0 arc 08:07 45116 901.0 target 08:10 45117 10.0 flat 08:12 45118 2.0 arc 08:31 45119 901.0 target 08:34 45120 10.0 flat 08:37 45121 2.0 arc ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 03:42Z 59 18 12 293 (WNW) 614 - mostly clear 04:12Z 59 18 13 312 (NW) 666 - ' 04:45Z 59 19 15 293 (WNW) 712 - ' 05:17Z 59 19 14 298 (WNW) 698 - ' 05:50Z 57 19 11 269 (W) 685 - ' 06:21Z 58 18 18 305 (NW) 645 - ' 06:53Z 58 15 16 297 (WNW) 629 - ' 07:23Z 57 15 12 276 (W) 657 - ' 07:54Z 58 18 12 302 (WNW) 749 - ' 08:25Z 57 19 13 273 (W) 813 - ' 08:56Z 57 18 12 280 (W) 783 - ' ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 02:26Z - Started building vntilation 05:00Z - Opened enclosure 09:05Z - Closed enclosure, ventilation off.
