Two comments, though, in the hope that I can address whatever prompted your question: sdsssd1 handles the readout of both spectographs, so there is no need for a second DA board when I visited APO last August, there was a second MVME5500 board in the spectro VME half-crate. At that time, this second 5500 was configured to serve as a simulator board, and it was named sdssis1. I don't know if that board is still present in the spectro crate, but I have not enabled monitoring on simulator boards, so there will be no monitor log from is1. So, the 12 monitor logs which you found were expected. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question. Kurt For reference, a simulator board drives the sergen (serial generator) data source for the DA. As you may know, the DA can be configured to read data from the cameras, from internal bit patterns, or from a simulator system which takes FITS files and feeds them back through the DA. Of course, camera readout is the standard configuration at APO. The internal and sergen data sources are used at the Fermilab test stand. harvanek@sdsshost2.apo.nmsu.edu wrote: APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Thursday February 16, 2006 (MJD 53783) Everything looked good but we will wait to see that the DA behaves normally during regular operations before we change the status of the relevant PRs. Note that we examined photo, spectro and mt frame headers and photo gang headers and everything appeared to be okay. We also checked for the monitor files in /linuxp/astrobase/monitorOutput and found 12 such files appearing hourly (approximately). Is there no sd2 board?
