     For the DA upgrade, we needed the vxworks cross-compiler on a
Solaris box. Rather than spin up a new (old) box for that, we put it
on galileo, which isn't used for much anymore. And in order to do
that we installed ups. And that replaced /usr/local/bin/perl with the
usual ups setup_and_run_perl whirligig, which "hid" all the system's
perl modules.
     OK, so maybe using galileo was a bad idea, and we should get a
dedicated vxworks development machine. Blecch.
