The west door upper limit switch appears to be making an unusual clicking sound when engaged. Finished 21 N, lambda -13 to 19 and 20 N, lambda -11 to 22. Finished 2 plates (1937, 1948) and got good signal on another plate (2060). Many max/bad sky-residual SOS warnings. Moon or aurora or both? The imager is still mounted. If the weather remains good (as is forecasted), please leave it mounted as we will use it first thing Tuesday evening (for the beginning of shakeup). ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- No spectro collimation check. No problems to report. Night: ------ Windscreen touch in altitude during opening. The west door upper limit switch makes an unusual clicking sound now. We tried it 3 times and all 3 times it made the sound. DIMM is not tracking properly again. Three times Polaris was centered in the cross hairs and in the ccd field of view; 3 times the star moved off in the east-west direction in about 60 seconds. We begin with spectroscopy (moon and clouds). Plate 2060 (cartridge 2): Segue faint. This plate is seeing 1.3 Zappa's of moon but we have nothing else available so we give it a try. An FK5 was used to acquire the field. The first and third exposures were declared bad due to high sky levels from SoS. Only the 2nd exposure (1500 s total) was good. SoS also reported lots of whopping fiber warnings as well as the sky warnings. We abandoned this plate when another became available. Plate 2050 (cartridge 7): Segue. Although this plate is seeing 1.2 Zappa's of moon, it already has 2/3 of the required signal on it and we stand a much better chance of finishing it before the run ends. So, we give it a try. Guide stars on the gotoField. All 3 exposures were declared bad due to high sky levels. We give up and move on. Plate 1937 (cartridge 9): Survey. We go to this plate about 30 minutes before it officially becomes available. Guide stars on the gotoField. During the guider focus loop, guider frame 1226 did not arrive when expected (04:46:20Z). Guider frames 1226 - 1228 were saved in phoenix:/data/photo/guiderproblems/53388 By the time setup and preCals were done it was already 05:15Z and so the first science exposure was started only 5 minutes before the plate became available. This plate was finished in 3 exposures (3600 s total). There were a few max sky residual warnings. The postCal request came too late. Plate 1948 (cartridge 4): Survey. Guide stars on the gotoField. This plate was finished in 3 exposures (3900 s total). Half a dozen max sky residual warnings were reported by SoS. Moon set is coming up, the sky is photometric and the seeing is good so we switch to imaging. Run 5115: 21 N, start lambda -13.5. Spectro offsets cleared before opening the shutter. Pointing (skippy) and seeing good from the beginning. In focus at frame 22, lambda -10.9. Moon set officially at frame 37, lambda -8.5. However, there were no sky warnings before moonset so we are calling this run good from the beginning (lambda -12.8) to the end (frame 222, lambda 19.1). The seeing was good throughout (SoK). Run 5116: 20 N, start lambda -15. Focus and seeing were good from the beginning but the rotator needed correcting (thetaf = -0.062). Correction made at frame 29, lambda -11.5. Everything good by frame 31, lambda -11.2. There was a really nice spiral galaxy in dewar 5, frames 148 (r') to 156 (g'). Twilight officially began at frame 228, lambda 18.5 but we decided to push it a bit and take it through lambda 22 (frame 252) to the end of this strip. There were no sky warnings from watcher. Run 5117: Donuts. Frames can be found in phoenix:/data/photo/optics/53388 In focus - frame 11; +300 - frame 18; -300 - frame 22. Run 5118: On-telescope bias. endNight is running. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5114 23:03Z 23:32Z 100 O 172.38 -180.29 62 ignore 5115 08:14Z 10:23Z 21 N -13.10 19.30 230 science all good 5116 10:25Z 12:53Z 20 N -14.72 22.23 260 science good from frame 31 on 5117 12:54Z 13:04Z 20 N 22.44 25.12 32 engineering donuts 5118 13:22Z 13:40Z 100 O 27.67 32.27 45 bias on-telescope ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- See the main log. ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5115 11 4 41 -3.400 0.333 -2.000 0.181 0.00526 92 59 5115 12 4 47 -3.200 0.315 -2.000 0.170 0.00565 92 59 5115 64 4 58 -4.100 0.148 -2.400 0.194 0.00484 90 59 5115 116 4 60 -4.100 0.139 -1.500 0.130 0.00413 90 58 5115 168 4 50 -3.600 0.130 -1.700 0.112 0.00354 90 57 5116 11 4 54 -5.800 0.123 -3.100 0.123 0.06141 178 81 5116 17 4 62 -5.700 0.127 -3.300 0.147 0.06252 178 81 5116 19 4 67 -5.700 0.136 -3.300 0.140 0.06309 177 81 5116 31 4 51 -4.800 0.399 -3.600 0.190 0.00287 176 82 5116 70 4 54 -3.600 0.184 -3.400 0.135 0.00577 172 82 5116 121 4 41 -3.000 0.107 -2.000 0.126 0.00590 167 82 5116 172 4 47 -2.200 0.115 -2.000 0.112 0.00099 163 81 5116 224 4 50 -2.300 0.135 -2.200 0.175 -0.00772 161 80 ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5115 21 1 59 89 11 -0.567 0.233 -0.181 0.368 0.00061 5115 21 1 59 89 11 -0.426 0.208 -0.217 0.131 0.00073 5115 21 1 59 89 11 -0.142 0.154 -0.379 0.181 0.00127 5115 21 1 59 89 14 -0.399 0.227 -0.406 0.189 0.00137 5115 21 1 59 89 12 -0.328 0.247 -0.844 0.158 0.00284 5115 39 1 59 89 11 -0.095 0.143 -1.930 0.284 0.00649 5115 39 1 59 89 20 -0.232 0.152 -1.801 0.339 0.00606 5115 39 1 59 89 12 -0.023 0.249 -1.992 0.304 0.00670 5115 39 1 59 89 10 0.100 0.283 -1.821 0.154 0.00612 5115 39 1 59 89 14 0.286 0.329 -1.780 0.313 0.00598 5115 73 1 59 90 12 -0.564 0.217 0.133 0.235 -0.00045 5115 73 1 59 90 7 -0.596 0.155 0.061 0.151 -0.00021 5115 73 1 59 90 12 -0.489 0.083 0.198 0.263 -0.00067 5115 73 1 59 90 6 -0.451 0.180 0.316 0.167 -0.00106 5115 73 1 59 90 15 -0.466 0.104 0.131 0.261 -0.00044 5115 92 1 58 90 13 0.077 0.414 -0.615 0.321 0.00207 5115 92 1 58 90 9 -0.094 0.315 -0.563 0.242 0.00189 5115 92 1 58 90 7 0.001 0.222 -0.741 0.135 0.00249 5115 92 1 58 90 5 -0.004 0.219 -0.593 0.121 0.00199 5115 92 1 58 90 12 0.067 0.252 -0.614 0.266 0.00207 5115 125 1 58 90 18 -0.557 0.250 -0.488 0.151 0.00164 5115 125 1 58 90 15 -0.582 0.273 -0.322 0.199 0.00108 5115 125 1 58 90 18 -0.437 0.229 -0.262 0.247 0.00088 5115 125 1 58 90 12 -0.455 0.197 -0.408 0.167 0.00137 5115 125 1 58 90 9 -0.562 0.173 -0.449 0.146 0.00151 5115 144 1 57 90 14 -0.273 0.120 -1.179 0.226 0.00396 5115 144 1 57 90 17 -0.423 0.194 -1.183 0.185 0.00398 5115 144 1 57 90 19 -0.334 0.171 -1.048 0.215 0.00352 5115 144 1 57 90 11 -0.427 0.097 -1.108 0.169 0.00373 5115 144 1 57 90 15 -0.444 0.171 -1.122 0.077 0.00377 5115 180 1 57 90 11 0.647 0.155 -2.586 0.280 0.00869 5115 180 1 57 90 17 0.621 0.150 -2.480 0.184 0.00834 5115 180 1 57 90 7 0.727 0.107 -2.524 0.145 0.00848 5115 180 1 57 90 12 0.583 0.118 -2.405 0.157 0.00809 5115 180 1 57 90 11 0.512 0.147 -2.613 0.292 0.00879 5115 196 1 56 89 12 1.318 0.206 -1.795 0.343 0.00604 5115 196 1 56 89 10 1.222 0.127 -1.711 0.251 0.00575 5115 196 1 56 89 13 1.329 0.178 -1.790 0.157 0.00602 5115 196 1 56 89 15 1.208 0.156 -1.803 0.236 0.00606 5115 196 1 56 89 13 1.145 0.129 -1.635 0.164 0.00550 5116 234 1 80 20 14 -0.629 0.346 3.012 0.369 -0.01013 5116 234 1 80 20 10 -0.729 0.204 3.199 0.198 -0.01076 5116 234 1 80 20 15 -0.693 0.209 3.108 0.189 -0.01045 5116 234 1 80 20 13 -0.432 0.157 2.953 0.171 -0.00993 5116 234 1 80 20 20 -0.380 0.303 3.095 0.208 -0.01041 ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): YES QA Procedures Done (y/n): YES UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 30621, plate -9999 ------- 23:02 30621 0.0 bias 23:57 30622 0.0 bias ----- sequence 30623, plate 2060 ------- 5.5 4.8 8.1 7.9 not done 01:28 30623 10.0 flat 01:30 30624 2.0 arc 01:49 30625 900.1 target declared bad -
