Date: Sat, 5 Apr 2003 13:04:14 GMT From: harvanek@apo.nmsu.edu (Mike Harvanek) Subject: 2.5m obslog 20030404 (MJD 52734) APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Friday April 4, 2003 (MJD 52734) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: Atsuko Nitta Night: Mike Harvanek Dan Long ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- ``Missed it by that much.'' Finished 8 plates (1235, 997, 1240, 1015, 1226, 1233, 1289, 1290) and got 2/3rds of another plate (1048) done. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: After the work on the spectroGuiderCamera, I could not take any guider images. We rebooted the guide camera and guiderMac and all was fine. Spectro refocused. See detail in problem section. Night: Clear at sunset but moon is up so we begin with spectroscopy. Plate 1235 (cartridge 1): Guide stars on the gotoField. Finished in 3 exposures (2240 secs total). Plate 997 (cartridge 2): Guide stars on the gotoField. Finished in 3 exposures (2160 secs total). Moon down but light clouds are present so we stay with spectroscopy. Plate 1240 (cartridge 6): Guide stars on the gotoField. Finished in 3 exposures (2160 secs total). Clear but seeing is about 1.9" so we stay with spectroscopy. Plate 1015 (cartridge 8): Guide stars were found after clearing the previous offsets. Finished in 3 exposures (2240 secs total). Seeing still not good enough to switch to imaging. Plate 1226 (cartridge 4): Guide stars were found after returning to the offsets from plate 1240 (cartridge 6). Finished in 3 exposures (2160 secs total). Seeing still not good enough to switch to imaging. Plate 1233 (cartridge 3): Guide stars on the gotoField. When combined with previous data (52733) this plate was finished in one 900 sec exposure. Light clouds so we stay with spectroscopy. Plate 1289 (cartridge 9): Guide stars on the gotoField. Finished in 3 exposures (1920 secs total). Light clouds. Plate 1290 (cartridge 5): Guide stars on the gotoField. Finished in 3 exposures (1800 secs total). Light clouds. Plate 1048 (cartridge 7): Guide stars on the gotoField. We came within about 5 minutes of finishing this plate but the last exposure was taken too far into twilight and the sky was too bright. This last exposure and the smear were both declared bad (frames 20276 and 20277, respectively). We did obtain 2 good exposures for this plate (1260 secs total) and got 2/3rds of the required (S/N)^2. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3846 22:20Z 22:45Z 100 O -122.88 -116.60 55 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): y QA Procedures Done (y/n): y UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 20218, plate -9999 ------- 22:17 20218 0.0 bias ----- sequence 20219, plate 1235 ------- 22:24 20219 10.0 flat 22:27 20220 2.1 arc 22:29 20221 2.1 arc 22:46 20222 2.1 arc 22:48 20223 2.1 arc ----- sequence 20226, plate 1235 ------- 17.8 16.8 18.2 18.6 DONE 02:34 20226 10.0 flat 02:36 20227 2.0 arc 02:54 20228 800.1 target 03:09 20229 720.1 target 03:24 20230 720.1 target 03:31 20231 240.0 smear ----- sequence 20232, plate 997 ------- 16.3 21.3 17.3 19.9 DONE 03:45 20232 10.0 flat 03:48 20233 2.0 arc 04:03 20234 720.1 target 04:18 20235 720.1 target 04:33 20236 720.1 target 04:40 20237 240.0 smear ----- sequence 20238, plate 1240 ------- 17.6 24.2 19.0 23.5 DONE 04:57 20238 10.0 flat 04:59 20239 2.0 arc 05:14 20240 720.1 target 05:29 20241 720.1 target 05:44 20242 720.1 target 05:51 20243 240.0 smear ----- sequence 20244, plate 1015 ------- 17.1 15.1 16.3 14.8 DONE 06:07 20244 10.0 flat 06:10 20245 2.0 arc 06:25 20246 720.1 target 06:40 20247 720.1 target 06:56 20248 800.1 target 07:05 20249 240.0 smear ----- sequence 20250, plate 1226 ------- 17.4 17.4 15.4 18.9 DONE 07:18 20250 10.0 flat 07:21 20251 2.0 arc 07:36 20252 720.1 target 07:51 20253 720.1 target 08:06 20254 720.1 target 08:14 20255 240.0 smear ----- sequence 20256, plate 1233 ------- 9.2 8.3 8.4 9.6 52733 08:27 20256 10.0 flat 8.1 8.3 8.1 10.0 tonight 08:29 20257 2.0 arc ------------------- 08:48 20258 900.1 target 17.3 16.6 16.5 19.6 DONE 08:55 20259 240.0 smear ----- sequence 20260, plate 1289 ------- 22.2 25.4 21.6 24.9 DONE 09:07 20260 10.0 flat 09:10 20261 2.0 arc 09:25 20262 720.1 target 09:38 20263 600.1 target 09:51 20264 600.1 target 09:58 20265 240.0 smear ----- sequence 20266, plate 1290 ------- 17.2 19.0 16.7 19.9 DONE 10:10 20266 10.0 flat 10:12 20267 2.0 arc 10:26 20268 600.1 target 10:39 20269 600.1 target 10:51 20270 600.1 target 10:59 20271 240.0 smear ----- sequence 20272, plate 1048 ------- 9.7 11.7 10.9 11.2 11:12 20272 10.0 flat 11:14 20273 2.0 arc 11:27 20274 600.1 target 11:41 20275 660.1 target 11:56 20276 720.1 target declared bad -
