Email of critical error alert does not work. PR 3833 reassigned. Hartmann focusing does not work. The routine gives incorrect and inconsistent focus offsets. PR 3618 reassigned. We ran endNight successfully but further testing is required to determine if endNight is finding errors in the return from blocks2tape. PR 4501 remains in needstest. The commands instChange and scanStripe now use the tccPutAndWait command to move the telescope. This change is transparent to the observers with one exception: the watchTCCSlew command that is run by instChange and scanStripe no longer sees the slew in progress. Currently, Eric's patch code must be sourced to get these changes to work. The next version of iop/sop will include this patch. PR 4542 closed. If observers are unhappy with the watchTCCSlew suppression, a new PR should be opened to fix it. When SOP times out waiting for a response from the TCC it now drops its TCC connection and reconnects. Currently, Eric's patch code must be sourced to get this to work. The next version of iop/sop will include this patch. PR 4543 closed. Seeing was mediocre at FWHM=2.3" but fairly stable. We sourced the test version and tried again. sp1> source /usrdevel/neilsen/iop/etc/sop/hartmann.tcl We first recentered the field using the autoguider to get a new esimate of the seeing (now ~ 2.0"). PR 3618 --> Reassigned. PR 3833 - trigger a critical error and ensure the email goes to the new critical-alerts apo email list: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- We attempted to generate a false critical error but were unable to do so. Thus, several hours after the spectrographs had been filled, we hooked up the LN2 lines and tried to do another fill with the 180 l LN2 dewar valve closed. This generated the following real critical errors: Spec1 LN2 Secondary Dewar Pressure (FAULT!!! : 2003-01-13 04:58:30Z) Spec2 LN2 Secondary Dewar Pressure (FAULT!!! : 2003-01-13 04:58:30Z) primary ln2 fill time (FAULT!!!: 2003-01-13 05:08:26Z) (Note that we closely monitored the spectrograph CCD temperatures while performing this test). We allowed these critical errors to remain uncleared until 05:35Z (37 minutes for the first 2 errors) at which point we opened the dewar valve and allowed the spectrographs to fill again. We received no email notifying us of the critical error. Pete then sent a test message to the mailing list to see if that would get through and it did. Thus, it appears that a critical error does not generate or send an email warning as it is supposed to do. PR 3833 --> Reassigned. PR 4501 - endNight should look for errors in the return from blocks2tape: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- We ran endNight -doTpm -doSpectro successfully. However, we did not test endNight by writing the imager doghouse bias to tape because we did not want to ship tapes with only a doghouse bias on them. Shouldn't this test use some real imager data so that something with lots of gang files gets written? If bias data is sufficient, can this test be run on a bad weather night when tapes are not shipped? Regardless, this PR needs further testing anyway under conditions that simulate the missing gangs error (unplug the cable on the tape drive?). PR 4501 remains as needstest.
