I think I used one too many inversions in figuring the inverse gain.  I wrote:

but (I think) I meant:
...unless the guider code assumes 40e-/ADU, so the number of ADU read out was
twice that expected for a given number of photons with the actual inverse gain
of 20e-/ADU.
