One plate done ( 883 ). Some data on another ( 913 ). Bad seeing clouds and eventually humidity kept us from getting anything the rest of the night. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- During the afternoon check I mistakenly took a bias drift before relabeling the tapes. I then made more work for myself by starting the tape relabel before the queue was completely empty. The understandably confused tape drives spit out the following error message for a couple nodes before resuming normal archiving. It is one I hadn't seen before. archLastErr-1 (Drive 1 error: Blank Check: EOD Encountered: 2002-06-05 01:05:56Z Cartridge 7 883: 14.3 17.3 15.2 18.7 3:10Z ffs petal 5 saying it isn't closed, causing trouble with precal. French took a look and adjusted the switch 3:25Z back on target ( no real time lost since it was still twilight ). Went to FK5 star since sky was still bright when acquiring. Position of FK5 was near enough to the center, that in a darker sky the stars would have been seen. Getting wide variation in fwhm readings ( sometimes nearly an arcsecond ). Could be plate profile ( fwhm near edges worse ). However, when checked visually they don't look particularly bad or distorted. Fibers 4 and 5 continue to have problems getting fwhm readings due to the hot column at the edge of the area illuminated by the fibers. The first science exposure ( 15476 ) had a bad exposure time ( should be 900 ). It was changed with APOFIX. Cartridge 6 913: 10.9 9.7 9.9 8.6 Guide stars on slew Didn't finish this one. Seeing too poor. Cartridge 4 980: No guide stars on slew, but FK5 easily found ( we were at 75 degrees elevation ). Poor seeing and increasing clouds kept (S/N)^2 values below two, all exposures declared bad ( 15491, 15492 ). Closed 08:15Z due to clouds. Humidity and wind speed also near limit, not to mention the 4 arcsecond seeing. We did not re-open. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3213 00:54Z 01:01Z 100 O -24.03 -22.14 27 ignore 3214 01:15Z 01:22Z 100 O -18.62 -17.01 25 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot --------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 00:42 15473 0.0 bias ----- sequence 15474, plate 883 ------- 14.3 17.3 15.2 18.7 03:39 15474 10.0 flat 03:42 15475 2.0 arc 04:02 15476 21764.0 target ( 900 really ) 04:25 15477 1200.0 target 04:43 15478 901.0 target 04:50 15479 240.0 smear 04:53 15480 10.0 flat 04:55 15481 2.0 arc ----- sequence 15482, plate 913 ------- 10.9 9.7 9.9 8.6 05:16 15482 10.0 flat 05:18 15483 2.0 arc 05:41 15484 1201.0 target 06:03 15485 1200.0 target 06:10 15486 240.0 smear 06:13 15487 10.0 flat 06:15 15488 2.0 arc ----- sequence 15489, plate 980 ------- 0.0 0.0 0.0 0.0 06:34 15489 10.0 flat 06:36 15490 2.0 arc 07:04 15491 1200.0 target 07:27 15492 1200.0 target ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 03:38Z 7 883 209.23 -0.0032 66.00 0.0011 42.37 -0.0109 1.000270 05:20Z 6 913 -34.23 0.0019 49.48 -0.0003 151.68 -0.0321 1.000080 06:42Z 4 980 69.54 -0.0011 78.77 -0.0023 243.43 -0.0321 1.000040 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL5378 Stays: JL5379 ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 03:38Z 7 883 1.00027 -2665 -1318 -250 209 66.1 12.9 15 39 - 1.8 04:25Z 7 883 1.00027 -2665 -1281 -225 219 60.5 10.9 16 84 - 2.3 05:32Z 6 913 1.00008 -789 458 -75 -38 48.0 9.0 20 76 - 2.8 06:42Z 4 980 1.00004 -394 743 -50 70 78.7 8.1 21 68 - 4.5 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- The forest is closed because of the extreme dry conditions, and we were closed much of the second half of the night due to humidity.
