First night of June dark run. Spectroscopy (wind south-east). ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Four plates done and two exposures on one plate, minor problems ocurred - see the log. Done: Cart 5 plt 847 Cart 6 plt 911 Cart 3 plt 922 Cart 9 plt 973 Two exposures done on: Cart 4 plt 979 ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon checkout ok. Spectrograph Focus Check: Ran "goSpecFocus" followed by "Collimate" on sos. The results showed that spectrographs were out of focus despite of the focusing three nights ago. The temperature differences inside the enclosure between the spectroMonthlyCheckout and tonight is about 3 degrees. The out-of-focusness reported by goSpecFocus and Collimate are close (about 0.035pix). We took the suggested changes (mechPiston moves) from Collimate. After moving the red cameras, the 2nd goSpecFocus and Collimate both reported all cameras were in focus. IDL collimate details are placed in the problem section. 02:42Z Started quite early with cart 5 plt 847. No problem with finding stars. First exposure on twilight. Plate done with 3 exposures. 04:41Z Cart 6 plt 911 - the "emergency" plate? :)))) mounted, stars found via fk5. Something was wrong with the guider efficiency meter... Did we mess it during shakedown? It shows half of what it should. Well, we set the guider gain to 20 e-/ADU and ... we've got the proper efficiency readings. Steph recalled, that the guider mac was rebooted in the afternoon, but this means, that the default setup for the guider is wrong (it sets the gain to 40 e-/ADU). Ooops! - we started first science exposure without precalib... - is it a bad habit after the shakedown? And then again we started exposure without precalib... but this time we endStare it - well- not aborted... Anyway, after that (finaly) we went for precalib. The seeing is getting bettter, but the moon will be soon up (within 1 hour), so we sticked with spectroscopy. Plate done with 3 exposures. 06:20Z Cart 3 plt 922, stars on slew (1 and a half stars :> ).Done with 3 exposures. 07:48Z Cart 9 plt 973, stars on slew. Done with 4 exposures. 08:29Z We noticed that PT GUI was dead for an hour... we managed to restart GUI after killing pending mop sessions. 09:45Z Cart 4 plt 979 mounted. Got two exposures and smear. 09:51Z It happened that the scale change timed out: we issued two scaleChanges from the SOP command line in rapid succession and got: ***Timed out after 40s waiting for scaleChange to complete. ***Check scale on the TCC; it should be 1.000100 TCC gave 87 7 I ScaleFac=1.000050 It looks like it made the first scale change but not the second. endNight rejoiced. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3208 21:15Z 21:44Z 100 O -82.73 -75.48 62 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot --------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 22:17 15352 0.0 bias ----- sequence 15353, plate 847 ------- 23:39 15353 2.0 arc 23:41 15354 2.0 arc 00:05 15355 3.0 arc 00:07 15356 3.0 arc ----- sequence 15357, plate 847 ------- 03:22 15358 10.0 flat 03:25 15359 2.0 arc 03:51 15360 1201.0 target 04:05 15361 603.0 target 04:22 15362 901.0 target 04:30 15363 240.0 smear ----- sequence 15364, plate 911 ------- 05:08 15364 901.0 target 05:12 15365 56.0 target 05:17 15366 10.0 flat 05:20 15367 2.0 arc 05:40 15368 901.0 target 05:59 15369 900.0 target 06:06 15370 240.0 smear 06:10 15371 10.0 flat 06:12 15372 2.0 arc ----- sequence 15373, plate 922 ------- 06:24 15373 10.0 flat 06:26 15374 2.0 arc 06:45 15375 901.0 target 07:08 15376 1202.0 target 07:26 15377 900.0 target 07:33 15378 240.0 smear ----- sequence 15379, plate 973 ------- 07:50 15379 10.0 flat 07:52 15380 2.0 arc 08:15 15381 901.0 target 08:34 15382 901.0 target 09:02 15383 1502.0 target 09:10 15384 240.0 smear 09:30 15385 901.0 target 09:33 15386 10.0 flat 09:35 15387 2.0 arc ----- sequence 15388, plate 979 ------- 09:54 15388 10.0 flat 09:56 15389 2.0 arc 10:16 15390 900.0 target 10:34 15391 902.0 target 10:42 15392 240.0 smear ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 02:59Z 5 847 7.24 0.0027 61.88 -0.0005 186.05 0.0000 1.000230 05:16Z 6 911 -31.48 0.0027 50.28 0.0015 153.88 -0.0144 1.000090 06:43Z 3 922 -30.19 0.0032 51.29 0.0006 154.93 -0.0077 1.000070 08:01Z 9 973 267.72 0.0058 82.98 0.0035 92.20 0.0225 1.000170 10:04Z 4 979 271.37 0.0007 59.13 0.0014 109.28 -0.0157 1.000030 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL5370 Stays: JL5371 ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 02:59Z 5 847 1.00020 -1974 -762 -275 8 61.9 17.6 18 78 gdr 1.9 04:53Z 6 911 1.00009 -888 287 -150 -23 52.4 16.5 17 80 gdr 2.1 06:42Z 3 922 1.00007 -690 354 -250 -30 51.3 16.4 19 71 -/- 1.8 08:01Z 9 973 1.00017 -1678 -599 -325 268 83.1 17.6 6 75 -/- 1.5 10:04Z 4 979 1.00003 -295 659 -250 271 59.2 15.0 4 92 -/- 2.3 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 21:35Z 74 28 4 261 (W) 629 - 22:07Z 73 28 8 216 (SW) 664 - 22:39Z 72 27 0 250 (WSW) 756 - 23:11Z 74 29 13 196 (SSW) 706 - 23:39Z 72 30 5 179 (S) 723 - 00:10Z 70 27 5 90 (E) 482 - 00:40Z 69 27 7 82 (E) 437 - 01:10Z 68 28 13 81 (E) 471 - 02:04Z 65 31 13 79 (E) 521 - 02:37Z 64 31 15 82 (E) 586 - 03:09Z 63 31 18 76 (ENE) 532 - 03:40Z 62 31 12 87 (E) 519 - 04:12Z 61 31 12 88 (E) 519 - 04:45Z 61 31 15 85 (E) 524 - 05:16Z 61 31 19 71 (ENE) 546 - 05:46Z 60 33 18 73 (ENE) 601 - 06:16Z 61 31 19 73 (ENE) 528 - 06:46Z 61 31 17 74 (ENE) 500 - 07:17Z 61 31 17 72 (ENE) 507 - 07:47Z 62 27 13 80 (E) 449 - 08:17Z 62 25 2 295 (WNW) 511 - 08:47Z 58 32 7 88 (E) 656 - 09:17Z 58 32 5 91 (E) 516 - 09:47Z 60 31 1 97 (E) 499 - 10:18Z 64 21 3 88 (E) 433 - 10:48Z 64 21 2 136 (SE) 344 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 01:45Z Telescope opened, spectro dewars refilled. 10:15Z Telescope closed, hoses hooked up. ---=== SOFTWARE USED ===--- IOP/SOP: v3_79_2 Watcher: v2_18_0 MCP: v5_13_0 TPM: tpm_v2_12_0 AstroDa: v14_47 TCC: 2.6.4 sdssProcedures: v1_46 ---=== MIRROR NUMBERS ===--- PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A 0.0840 0.0860 Axial B 0.8050 0.8050 Axial C 0.0800 0.0760 Trans D -1.5370 -1.5230 Lateral E 1.8310 1.8300 Lateral F 0.0000 0.0000 GALILS Commanded: 5400. -3700. 900. -200. 31550. 30650.
