Focus adjusted, biases and darks are taken. o We have a new SoS (v4_9_10). It has a new column called "quality". When doing goSpecFocus and specFlats, the quality for the frames were "test" in yellow. o I used iop/sop v3_79_1a for the monthy checkout. Nothing bad happened while doing the monthly checkout. o Fiducial data gathered this morning were compared to the current ones. The differences between the two are small. Given the fact that the telescope was not as cool was the night time temperature (AC was not running over the weekend), I decide to keep the current data which was taken in colder condition. You can see the current and today's data later in the log. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Spectro Monthly Checkout ========================== The telescope was warm when I came in. Inside the enclosure was about 17C. I waited for couple hours, but the temperture did not drop much. HVAC was set to be at 55F, but it was having trouble bringing the air temperature that cool. So I got Hercules from his room and he fired up the Thermal King. The Thermal King was on during the day today, but it did not bring the temperature close to night time observing temperature before it was turned off. The temperature in the enclosure was good for normal operation, opening around sunset, but not for dong focus check. Before 2:00Z We started up the Thermal King unit. Temp went from 16.5C or so to 14.2C at 3:00Z. While waiting for the temperature to cool, I took 25 biases and 3 darks. Here are the results from "apo_plotbias". All bias and darks were reported "excellent" in SoS. So I decided to go ahead with the rest of the monthly checkout items. I adjusted the spectrographs so XMIN, XMAX, WAVEMIN, WAVEMAX were all in black. specFocus said both sp1 and sp2 red cameras were not within tolerance. So I adjusted as suggested (Issue: sp1; mechPiston 4044, Issue: sp2; mechPiston 3935). After the red camera adjusted, the sp1 blue was in focus, but sp2 blue needed to be adjusted for -7 degrees. This got all cameras in focus. sp1 red l-r = 0.037 pixels, tolerance = 0.15 pixels, focused Calculating pixel shift maps now...
