Kleinman, Judi Provencal. ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Clouds and north-south wind dictate spectroscopy. ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- - At the beginning of the night: a small problem with the guider - see problem section. - Serious problem with collimation during observing time... see problem section. (3 hours lost for collimation). No plates done tonight, but got some exposures on two of them. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon checkout ok. 02:17Z cart 5 plt 947 -> it's still bright outside, but we setup on fk5 star with cleared offsets. Waiting for the darker sky... 02:50Z A small problem with the guide camera (see the problem section) - we recovered quickly. 05:46Z One exposure read out on this plate, but S/N limit wasn't reached. Collimation problem: --------------------- 06:00Z cart 2 plt 955 mounted. Stars on slew... 06:23Z We've got red XSIGMA and WSIGMA on r1 for this plate. We remounted the the cart and took another precalib and arc exposure, but the problem remained. Since on first cartridge (5) we didn't notice any problems we decided to mount cart 4 and see if we still suffer from the problem, before trying to collimate sepctrographs. 06:40 The air temperature dropped from 9 C at the beginning of the night down to 5.3 C at the moment. We also think the first plate was taken while the spectrographs were warm from opening. 06:42Z cart 4 plt 919 mounted. Stars on slew. Let's see what precalib will show... well - XSIGMA still red on r1. 06:52Z We moved the telescope to the stow position and started the collimation. ... flat and arc showed that we need also the wavelength adjustment... 08:30Z cart 4 expired, so while arc's was calculated we mount cart 3 plt 924. 08:54Z Finaly we got both sp1 and sp2 in spec (arc, showed in black all fields). Lost 3 hours fighting with collimation problem :(. Got two exposures over S/N ~2, plate expired for tonight. Not done. 09:48Z cart 1 plt 819 monted, stars on slew... seeing has improved! 10:30Z Clouds ... not enough S/N on the second exposure. 10:48Z Clouds went away but seeing deteriorate. 11:05Z third exposure got S/N over 2, so it's useful. endNight went ok. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot --------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 01:36 15037 0.0 bias ----- sequence 15038, plate 947 ------- 03:09 15038 10.0 flat 03:12 15039 2.0 arc 05:45 15040 1202.0 target ----- sequence 15041, plate 955 ------- 06:05 15041 10.0 flat 06:07 15042 2.0 arc 06:26 15043 10.0 flat 06:28 15044 2.0 arc ----- sequence 15045, plate 919 ------- 06:48 15045 10.0 flat 06:50 15046 2.0 arc 06:57 15047 3.0 arc 07:00 15048 3.0 arc 07:17 15049 3.0 arc 07:20 15050 3.0 arc 07:32 15051 3.0 arc 07:35 15052 2.0 arc 07:54 15053 10.0 flat 07:56 15054 2.0 arc ----- sequence 15045, plate 9999 ------- 08:17 15055 10.0 flat 08:21 15056 2.0 arc 08:23 15057 2.0 arc 08:26 15058 10.0 flat 08:28 15059 2.0 arc 08:46 15060 2.0 arc ----- sequence 15060, plate 924 ------- 09:00 15061 10.0 flat 09:03 15062 2.0 arc 09:21 15063 903.0 target 09:39 15064 902.0 target ----- sequence 15065, plate 819 ------- 09:54 15065 10.0 flat 09:56 15066 2.0 arc 10:19 15067 1002.0 target 10:38 15068 1001.0 target 10:58 15069 1001.0 target 11:00 15070 10.0 flat 11:02 15071 2.0 arc ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 03:15Z 5 947 201.06 -0.0009 63.05 -0.0004 33.66 -0.0238 1.000090 05:37Z 5 947 219.54 -0.0009 46.83 -0.0004 79.11 -0.0238 0.999970 06:09Z 2 955 208.63 -0.0013 54.98 -0.0016 53.93 -0.0034 1.000000 08:01Z 4 919 -42.22 0.0001 46.50 -0.0012 145.52 -0.0231 0.999930 09:06Z 3 924 -47.75 0.0003 44.06 -0.0001 141.43 -0.0210 1.000020 10:04Z 1 819 253.81 0.0010 69.52 0.0007 87.82 0.0020 1.000040 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL5339 Stays: JL5340 ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 03:15Z 5 947 1.00009 -888 369 -40 201 63.1 5.3 14 81 gdr 2.4 05:37Z 5 947 0.99997 296 1196 -240 220 46.8 7.7 10 162 gdr 2.1 06:10Z 2 955 1.00000 0 926 -240 209 55.0 7.3 11 166 gdr 2.3 09:06Z 3 924 1.00002 -198 937 -100 -48 44.1 6.3 19 164 gdr 2.1 10:07Z 1 819 1.00004 -394 646 -160 254 68.9 6.8 12 178 gdr 1.6 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 01:38Z 44 23 23 75 (ENE) 722 - 02:11Z 42 23 15 76 (ENE) 803 - 02:43Z 42 23 13 86 (E) 894 - 03:15Z 41 23 13 80 (E) 839 - 03:47Z 41 23 11 86 (E) 868 - 04:20Z 42 23 20 127 (SE) 1247 - 04:50Z 43 25 21 126 (SE) 1443 - 05:20Z 45 27 15 150 (SSE) 1850 - 05:51Z 45 29 12 148 (SSE) 2203 - 06:24Z 46 30 11 183 (S) 2080 - 06:54Z 46 30 18 188 (S) 1590 - 07:25Z 45 31 17 177 (S) 1385 - 07:56Z 43 27 20 154 (SSE) 1226 - 08:29Z 43 26 20 156 (SSE) 1064 - 09:02Z 43 26 15 169 (S) 1147 - 09:32Z 43 29 17 160 (SSE) 1135 - 10:02Z 44 34 11 177 (S) 1166 - 10:33Z 42 29 14 134 (SE) 1105 - 11:03Z 44 33 15 167 (SSE) 1374 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 01:05Z Fans on. 02:00Z Telescope opend dewars refilled. ---=== SOFTWARE USED ===--- IOP/SOP: v3_78_1 Watcher: v2_17_0 MCP: v5_11_3 TPM: v2_8_0 AstroDa: v14_47 TCC: 2.6.2 sdssProcedures: v1_44 ---=== MIRROR NUMBERS ===--- PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A 0.0770 0.0760 Axial B 0.7960 0.7990 Axial C 0.0740 0.0810 Trans D -1.5190 -1.5180 Lateral E 1.8450 1.8240 Lateral F 1.4120 1.3920 GALILS Commanded: 11550. 2500. 7100. -200. 31550. 30650.
