Date: Wed, 10 Apr 2002 11:35:04 GMT From: ank@apo.nmsu.edu (Atsuko Kleinman) Subject: 2.5m obslog 20020409 (MJD 52374) APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Tuesday April 9, 2002 (MJD 52374) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: Steph Snedden Night: Jurek Krzesinski Atsuko Nitta Scot Kleinman ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- We finished plate 616, 884, 509, 815, 840 and 853. We declared all but 840 done. We could NOT declare cart 5 plate 840 done due to missing MapIds info. Steve, can you look into this and declare this done for us? ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- swing shift notes: ------------------ No problems encountered during afternoon checkout. We opened close to the end of twilight due to threatening clouds. cartridge 3 plate 509 ------------------------- Guide stars found on gotoField after clearing the offsets from the previous night. Plate is done. cartridge 5 plate 840 ------------------------- Guide stars on gotoField. We have a great telescope. We finished this plate. When we tried to declare it done, it took the MJD, sequences number and the S/N but could NOT declare this plate done due to the following message: No map 0840-52374-03 while executing "error_old $arg" (procedure "error" line 4) invoked from within "error "No map $mapId"" (procedure "mapDone" line 5) invoked from within "mapDone $mapId $code $mjd" (procedure "tmlProc" line 85) invoked from within "tmlProc" When you and look up further info of this plate from the database page, there is no info under MapIds which is what the above message is probably complaining about. Steve, can you declare this plate done for us? cartridge 7 plate 853 -------------------- Guide stars on gotoField. We finished this plate. cartridge 2 plate 884 ---------------------- Guide stars on gotoField. While observing this plate, the cloud camera no longer showed any clouds (until now, we have been seeing thin small clouds in the images) for a while. So we discussed of going to imaging to do Apache Wheel scan. Unfortunately, we realized that we will not have enough time to complete the test. So we stuck to spectro and moved on to the next plate after completing this one. cartridge 4 plate 815 ----------------------- Guide stars on gotoField. Thin clouds moving in from the south west again. We are glad we didn't try the Apache wheel which requires photometric sky. We finished this plate. cartridge 1 plate 616 ------------------------ Guide stars on gotoField. Combined with last night's exposure, we finished this plate with one exposure. endNight rejoiced. Steph's Spectro focus check: ------------------------------ Collimate shows all cameras are in spec. No pre-calibs run as this cartridge may be observed later.
