We were open for about 4 1/2 hours mostly in the first half of the night during which we completed plates 9-880, 8-577, and 7-332. The HVAC system was not cooling during the afternoon and evening and had an alarm set for condenser failure. Check of spectrograph focus in the afternoon showed 3 of 4 cameras within focus spec, and all sigmas in spec. No change was made to focus. There was some odd behavior from SoS regarding the smear for 577. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Swing stuff: sdsshost reboot: ---------------- Craig looked at the 'host reboot script, and fixed two things: 1 - He changed /etc/rc2.d/S99ups, changing the way the ups environment initializes. 2 - He set it so that the murmur server starts as observer, not root. The script now seems to run, and 'host rebooted successfully. Will test it again tomorrow before writing a procedure. Unfortunately, the temperature differences changed very slowly. I was only able to get a 3 C difference over 2 hours. I hope the data below is okay. I am worried that there may be a bad connection someplace, or something was wrong with the power supply. If the data is bad, i.e. there is no correlation between grayscale and temperature, Jim could you please let Jon & I know? Opened and turned on fans at 03:45Z. 04:02Z Cartridge 9 880: 18.9 16.9 17.8 19.2 Sufficient guide stars on gotoField, to pull it in with the guider. The smear for this plate had very low signal-to-noise and there was an unfamiliar warning from SoS about "median spatial widths". This apparently is complaining about focus or slithead position which is odd since there were no complaints about the science exposures immediately preceding it. 06:55Z Cartridge 7 332: 17.8 13.9 21.7 16.0 Stars on the slew once again. The precalibs on this plate were fine, so whatever the problem was, it was only with the smear on plate 577. 08:15Z Closed due to high dust. We did not reopen. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot --------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot --------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 00:09 14158 2.0 arc 00:25 14159 3.0 arc 00:27 14160 3.0 arc ----- sequence 14161, plate -9999 ------- 00:44 14161 0.0 bias ----- sequence 14161, plate 880 ------- 18.9 16.9 17.8 19.2 04:16 14162 10.0 flat 04:18 14163 2.0 arc 04:42 14164 901.0 target 04:59 14165 23236.0 target 05:17 14166 901.0 target 05:23 14167 240.0 smear 05:26 14168 10.0 flat 05:28 14169 2.0 arc ----- sequence 14170, plate 577 ------- 14.9 15.5 13.8 16.1 05:43 14170 10.0 flat 2.6 4.3 2.7 4.3 ( MJD 52366 ) 05:45 14171 2.0 arc ------------------- 06:05 14172 900.0 target 17.5 19.8 16.5 20.4 06:28 14173 1202.0 target 06:43 14174 719.0 target 06:50 14175 240.0 smear ----- sequence 14176, plate 332 ------- 17.8 13.9 21.7 16.0 07:03 14176 10.0 flat 07:06 14177 2.0 arc 07:27 14178 900.0 target 07:44 14179 901.0 target 08:07 14180 1201.0 target 08:13 14181 240.0 smear ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 04:41Z 9 880 149.91 -0.0007 66.23 0.0024 -43.24 -0.0242 1.000420 06:03Z 8 577 -33.20 0.0013 57.31 0.0014 152.46 -0.0179 1.000190 07:11Z 7 332 -18.22 0.0004 53.36 0.0007 164.70 -0.0274 1.000050 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- EndNight completed normally. A check of the system showed it was complaining of a condenser failure and so the compressor was not running.
