We got one good science exposure on plate 889 before the clouds were too thick to get even the minimum (S/N)^2 in a 30 minute exposure. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- During the day Eric declared the new version of IOP ( v3_71_2 ) test. The only difference is that it has the version of smear.tcl from v3_66_5a, and the only change in smear.tcl was the TCC check code. There was a fix applied to the TCC which corrected the smear problem anyway, so the SOP code isn't really necessary. As it was causing a five minute delay on each smear exposure it was deemed a critical high PR and thus the new version of IOP mid run. If this version shows no problems tonight it will be declared current at the end of the night. 3 889: ------ 01:46z No stars visible on slew. Needed FK5. 02:00z guider efficiency below 30%, set cloud weather condition. 02:50z clouds thin enough to attempt science exposure. Half hour exposure yields 3 (S/N)^2 03:50z Waited about five minutes after second science exposure for telescope to transit. It turns out we could have started another exposure right away despite tracking only 3 degrees from zenith. The axes and guider had no trouble keeping the telescope on track through the meridian. 03:52z Minimum (S/N)^2 for second exposure ( 13739 ) was 1.9 Boo!-Hiss! We didn't get any other data tonight. The clouds just got progressively thicker. We closed up at about 09:00z. The clouds stayed and we did not reopen. IOP v3_71_2 declared current at the end of the night. It wasn't extensively tested but the only change was reverting to the previous version of smear.tcl ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3017 2222Z 2259Z 100 O -150.79 -141.55 41 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot --------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot --------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 23:08 13734 0.0 bias 23:35 13735 0.0 bias ----- sequence 13736, plate 889 ------- 4.9 3.0 5.8 3.8 02:34 13736 10.0 flat ( only 13738 signal counted here ) 02:36 13737 2.0 arc 03:10 13738 1801.0 target 03:44 13739 1802.0 target 04:19 13740 1670.0 target ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 0231Z 3 889 85.08 0.0052 72.74 0.0019 254.68 -0.0134 1.000180 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL5115 Stays: JL5116 ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 19:35 3 889 1.00018 -1776 -446 -100 84 73.6 3.7 7 223 -- 1.2 20:28 3 889 1.00018 -1776 -456 -100 59 84.3 4.3 11 186 -- 1.2 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 15:33 46 -6 4 254 (WSW) 194 - Cirrus 16:06 42 -9 11 305 (NW) 171 - Cirrus 16:38 46 -5 10 274 (W) 163 - Cirrus 17:10 45 -6 9 266 (W) 158 - Moderate Cirrus 17:42 40 -10 6 271 (W) 193 - Moderate Cirrus 18:14 38 -10 5 251 (WSW) 214 - Moderate Cirrus 18:45 38 -11 2 251 (WSW) 253 - Moderate Cirrus 19:15 39 -12 5 260 (W) 363 - Moderate Cirrus 19:48 38 -13 7 223 (SW) 361 - Moderate Cirrus 20:18 40 -12 9 189 (S) 434 - Thick Cirrus 20:48 39 -13 10 195 (SSW) 446 - Thick Cirrus 21:20 39 -12 11 237 (WSW) 417 - Thick Cirrus 21:52 39 -10 11 236 (SW) 406 - Thick Cirrus 22:24 37 -9 6 222 (SW) 426 - Thick Cirrus 22:57 40 -8 7 188 (S) 411 - Thick Cirrus 23:29 40 -6 16 212 (SSW) 225 - Thick Cirrus 00:01 40 -6 11 183 (S) 286 - Thick Cirrus 00:34 39 -5 8 209 (SSW) 374 - Thick Cirrus 01:06 40 -6 12 227 (SW) 247 - Thick Cirrus 01:38 40 -6 9 223 (SW) 318 - Thick Cirrus 02:11 40 -5 13 217 (SW) 263 - Thick Cirrus 02:43 40 -6 10 248 (WSW) 497 - Thick Cirrus 03:13 38 -8 10 250 (WSW) 300 - Thick Cirrus 03:43 38 -6 12 240 (WSW) 294 - Thick Cirrus 04:15 38 -4 14 251 (WSW) 295 - Thick Cirrus ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 23:00z Doors open, Fans on 01:00z Enclosure open 09:00z Enclosure closed 11:10z Fans off Stowed at 30 deg alt, cartridge 3 installed.
