Date: Wed, 20 Feb 2002 10:42:23 -0700 (MST) From: Craig Loomis Subject: Re: 2.5m obslog 20020219 (MJD 52325) In additional to the multiple murmur logs, each of the /skycat/oplogs/astrolog/MJD/ directories holds an oldMurmur.tar file, which appears to hold astroda and murmur logs from the previous night. The contents of the tar file are often duplicated and/or unused files which don't appear in the previous night's directory. e.g.: me$ tar tvf 52320/oldMurmur.tar rw-rw-r-- 8237/3532 7335932 Feb 14 06:16 2002 /skycat/oplogs/murmurlog/52319/astroda.v14_36.log rw-rw-r-- 8237/3532 38834421 Feb 14 06:16 2002 /skycat/oplogs/murmurlog/52319/astroda.v14_39.log rw-rw-r-- 8237/3532 5367764 Feb 14 06:16 2002 /skycat/oplogs/murmurlog/52319/astroda.v14_39a.log rw-rw-r-- 8237/3532 589680 Feb 14 06:16 2002 /skycat/oplogs/murmurlog/52319/astroda.v14_40.log rw-rw-r-- 8237/3532 14546420 Feb 14 06:16 2002 /skycat/oplogs/murmurlog/52319/astroda.v14_41.log rw-rw-r-- 8237/3532 547847 Feb 14 06:16 2002 /skycat/oplogs/murmurlog/52319/astroda.v14_42.log rw-rw-r-- 8237/3532 7336016 Feb 14 06:16 2002 /skycat/oplogs/murmurlog/52319/iop.murmur.log rw-rw-rw- 2525/3532 8462110 Feb 14 15:28 2002 /skycat/oplogs/murmurlog/52319/murmur.15:16:24Feb132002.log rw-rw-r-- 8237/3532 0 Feb 14 06:16 2002 /skycat/oplogs/murmurlog/52319/murmur.log rw-rw-r-- 8237/3532 43906 Feb 14 06:16 2002 /skycat/oplogs/murmurlog/52319/sd1.log That 38M astroda.v14_39 file has appeared unchanged in all the tar files since Dec. 4. astroda.v14_36 appears to be the active log around 52320 (it is the one that grows from night to night). I have occasionally wondered how the astroda log differs from the iop.murmur.log... These tar files take up 15G, or ~half the disk space. And if we really are keeping all the /astrolog/contents spinning for the duration of the survey, the tar files should not be necessary and /astrolog directories should not be deleted. - craig > Around 1037Z we got a warning about /skycat disk space.
