SYNOPSIS: ========= Two plates declared done ( 608, 638 ) despite bouts of clouds, and a couple hours of silence from sp1. GENERAL COMMENTS (see Problems below for details): ================================================== Version v3_50_4 of IOP was used tonight. It fixes the endDrift question problem. It was declared current. The spectro instrument block was tweaked mainly to adjust the consistent RA offset found. Unfortunately there is still sufficient pointing variation to require fk5 stars most of the time in acquiring the target. Guiding stopped during frame 10287. Apparently it happened when Atsuko quit a guiderMon saoDisplay. Somehow earlier two of them got started from the same sop session. The other one was also quit and restarted. Guiding was then resumed and all worked well. We lost time from 00:40 until 02:30 due to sp1 camera communications failure. Telneting to the camera would successfully establish a connection, but no response was seen to any command, even carriage return. Time was spent tracing and checking cabling, and swapping cables to determine where the fault was. It was found to be within sp1 itself. Two attempts at power cycling failed to resolve the problem. A third extended power cycle ( it was left off for 15 minutes ) got it talking again. All three times the power supplies looked fine. ( PR 2470 ) On plate 638 there is a really bright object in sp2. Curiously SoS doesn't complain about it. It does however mention 3 whopping fibers in sp1, and while there are some fairly bright fibers there, it is nothing compared to the object in sp2. It is bright enough to exceed the pink threshold on the display, and that doesn't happen often. The murmurGUI seemed to track activity as well as it did prior to the change in IOP, although we did not do any imaging tonight. It is possible to have more than one murmurGUI registering changes. The crucial step is to have logViewer running from the same IOP session that has the murmurGUI.
