SYNOPSIS FOR NIGHT: =================== $#$@#%!!$! clouds. GENERAL COMMENTS (see Problems below for details): ================================================== We went through the afternoon checkout starting at 17:30. We encountered the same problem that was noted a few days ago, where the instrument lift was slightly "up", so that the interlocks kept the telescope from moving. As far as we know, the lift had not been touched since last night. French, can you confirm this? If so, the lift is apparently creeping up on its own. Pete filed a PR and his notes are in the "Problems" section. Housekeeping: Pete noted that the duct tape holding a temporary moisture cover over the rotating rack for the PMSS pumps was nearly all unstuck. We added some fresh duct tape. We also added "on" and "off" labels to the heater toggle switch on the HVAC control box. The whole night was mostly to totally cloudy, and we had no chance of opening. A copy of the gangs tape for MJD 52015 was made and put on the shelf for immediate shipping to Steve & Jen. The tape ID is JL3925. Note to the observers: snm4l was run to generate new nominal MIG values. The interlocks showed the instrument lift flagged as up. Driving the lift down using the hand paddle cleared the flag, although no change was noticed in the lift position on the paddle. We had no reason to suppose the lift had been moved during the day, and this is the second time this has occurred in a few days (see log for MJD 52015, 2001/4/15). A PR was raised (2.5M/2284).
