  tps3d6 was connected but not visible, even through hinv and after a bus
rescan. But it appeared after a reboot, and seems to be working. I'll assume I
did something silly while reconfiguring the busses on Wednesday (like having
the tape drive powered down when I powered the Challenge up for the last
time).
  While poking around in the Sigma chassis, I found that the feed-through
power connection on the adapter for one of the new drives was flaky, which
explains the alarming SYSLOG errors for /d2 or dksc4d1s0. I disconnected the
adapter fans, and plugged power directly into the drives. There's no shortage
of ventilation in that enclosure.
