SYNOPSIS FOR NIGHT: =================== Five nights in a row of bad weather. We've managed to get one plate done in five nights. Sheesh. GENERAL COMMENTS (see Problems below for details): ================================================== Another (apparently) spurious voltage error appeared in the watcher for the spectrograph (CCD 03). Details in the problems section. Weather-related items: Mike kept up with the water leaks in the enclosure by maintaining the absorbing towels on the floor periodically. French & Mike replaced the spectro purge dessicant in the afternoon, but all through the night, we watched it slowly get pinker. The dessicant will need replacing again tomorrow. The heater was turned on at 21:00 since the humidity was getting up toward 80% in the enclosure. By 03:00 it was back down to 65%. We left the heater on, so the day staff will want to turn it back off when appropriate. We decided to try some high-altitude tracks inside the enclosure to see whether we would get axis aborts. Not surprisingly, we did see aborts when the altitude was above 88 degrees. Here is a summary: track begins at: result --------------- ------ 89 degrees both rotator and az aborted, az first. Az voltage about 3000. Aborts happened after just a few seconds of tracking. 89.5 degrees both rotator and az aborted, az first, but it was close. Az voltage about 3000. Aborts happened after just two or three seconds tracking. 88 degrees no aborts. Az voltage got as high as 7200V, rot as high as approx. 4000V DATA ACQUISITION (see IOP/SOP output below): ============================================ IMAGING: -------- Run Stripe Strip Flavor Lambda Last Frame # Begin End ------------------------------------------------------------------ 2151 100 O ignore -125.76 -123.04 32 doghouse bias SPECTROSCOPY: ------------- UT Exp Time flavor comment =============================================== ------ sequence 8870, plate -9999 ------- 00:24 8870 0.0 bias {{}} 03:14 8871 0.0 bias {{}} OFFSETS: -------- TAPES: ------ Ship to FNAL: none Stays at APO: MIRROR NUMBERS: =============== PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A: 0.0189 0.0150 +/-.05 Axial B: -0.0370 -0.0510 +/-.05 Axial C: 0.0379 0.0300 +/-.05 Trans D: 3.7550 3.7560 +/-.05 Lateral E: 1.9084 1.9100 +/-.002 Lateral F: 0.4090 0.4095 +/-.002 GALILS Commanded: 4900. -2750. 450. -6650. 8750. 8300.
