Useful data on three plates but none completed. Gave up at 05:00 MDT with more heavy cloud coming in. On the up side, we have no discernable problems with hardware or software tonight 8-) ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- During twilight, we think we discovered that resetting the slip detection box will abort the axes. Ho, hum. Conditions poor: thin high cloud acting as a very good diffuser for at 70% illuminated moon. All the plates observable before ~23h MDT are close to the moon. We tried plate 736, but got red sky levels from SoS, so we logged time to clouds and completed a shakedown task to gather data for spectro autofocus testing. Frustrating night. Rob Sparks, our visiting high-school teacher on study leave at FNAL, has been doing a valiant job with Craig Loomis of packing up the APO copies of SDSS tapes, as our computer room cupboards were full! Observing sequence: 19:01 Plate 736, cartridge 2. No useful data. On field well before the end of twilight. First two exposures useless, third very poor due to clouds. We tried again at 21:58, but were still cloud-limited. 22:46 Plate 694, cartridge 5. A little useful data. Approximately 50 deg from moon, but now the seeing has degraded to > 2 arcsec with a SE wind. Thicker cloud means little signal. 01:48 Plate 696, cartridge 7. Incomplete in 3 exposures, but useful data. Ran off design time range. Seeing improved. 03:07 Plate 703, cartridge 6. Incomplete in 3 exposures, but useful data. Seeing further improved, but ran off design time range as clouds closed in again. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Stripe Flavor Lambda Last Begin End Frame Comments ------------------------------------------------------------------ 2679 100 O ignore 84.73 87.52 32 doghouse bias ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot --------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot --------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 11532, plate -9999 ------- 23:00 11532 0.0 bias ----- sequence 11533, plate -9999 ------- 00:02 11533 0.0 bias ----- sequence 11534, plate -9999 ------- 00:30 11534 0.0 bias ----- sequence 11535, plate 736 ------- NO USEFUL DATA 01:20 11535 10.0 flat 01:22 11536 2.0 arc 01:52 11537 1200.0 target 02:10 11538 902.0 target 02:33 11539 1201.0 target Not post-calibrated, very weak 03:56 11540 900.0 target ----- sequence 11541, plate 694 ------- 4.7 0.0 4.2 2.5 04:53 11541 10.0 flat 04:55 11542 2.0 arc 05:23 11543 900.0 target IGNORE 06:16 11544 900.0 target IGNORE 07:15 11545 901.0 target 2.4 1.6 2.1 2.5 07:38 11546 1202.0 target 2.2 1.3 2.0 1.9 07:41 11547 10.0 flat 07:43 11548 2.0 arc ----- sequence 11549, plate 696 ------- 18.5 8.7 15.3 13.1 07:54 11549 10.0 flat 07:56 11550 2.0 arc 08:21 11551 902.0 target 08:39 11552 900.0 target 08:57 11553 900.0 target 08:59 11554 10.0 flat 09:01 11555 2.0 arc ----- sequence 11556, plate 703 ------- 12.2 4.4 10.8 8.0 09:11 11556 10.0 flat 09:13 11557 2.0 arc 09:39 11558 1201.0 target 10:02 11559 1201.0 target 10:20 11560 901.0 target IGNORE 10:23 11561 10.0 flat 10:25 11562 2.0 arc ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument getclock Az Alt Rot Scale ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 19:37 2 736 1004060270 0.000890 0.000179 -0.004427 0.999790 23:09 5 694 1004072956 0.001794 -0.001311 -0.023605 1.000000 02:25 7 696 1004084741 0.001243 0.001098 -0.027224 1.000020 03:21 6 703 1004088095 0.002314 0.001543 -0.015870 0.999990 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL4620 Stays: JL4621 ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 19:14 2 736 0.99998 198 1320 0 57 58.5 9.9 8 180 -- 1.4 23:08 5 694 1.00000 0 1114 -50 20 55.5 8.9 6 110 -- 2.4 02:25 7 696 1.00002 -198 938 -100 -52 43.9 8.9 7 180 -- 1.7 03:21 6 703 0.99999 99 1155 -130 -53 43.4 9.3 3 184 -- 1.4 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 16:44 59 19 8 264 (W) 479 - Overcast cirrus 17:16 56 17 3 247 (WSW) 411 - '' 17:48 52 18 3 259 (W) 639 - '' 18:20 50 18 2 212 (SSW) 672 - '' 18:50 49 19 8 187 (S) 663 - '' 19:21 49 19 7 180 (S) 720 - '' 19:53 47 18 9 186 (S) 600 - '' 20:26 49 20 7 179 (S) 646 - '' 20:56 48 20 9 177 (S) 628 - '' 21:29 46 19 10 175 (S) 685 - '' 22:02 48 18 7 181 (S) 576 - '' 22:34 47 18 10 159 (SSE) 602 - '' 23:05 47 18 9 145 (SE) 620 - '' 23:38 48 18 4 108 (ESE) 606 - '' 00:11 48 17 0 129 (SE) 551 - '' 00:41 48 17 7 185 (S) 559 - '' 01:12 48 18 7 178 (S) 591 - '' 01:44 48 17 8 180 (S) 580 - '' 02:14 48 18 4 181 (S) 566 - '' 02:48 48 18 6 180 (S) 565 - '' 03:18 48 18 3 179 (S) 561 - '' 03:49 49 18 3 181 (S) 633 - '' 04:21 48 18 2 183 (S) 641 - '' 04:54 49 18 2 180 (S) 558 - '' 05:26 49 19 1 180 (S) 590 - '' ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 17:00 Fans on, doors opened. 18:20 Enclosure off. 05:00 Enclosure on.
