After we opened, clouds quickly moved over and it looked quite nasty. It started to snow around 10pm or so and continued off and on until ~04:00. GENERAL COMMENTS (see Problems below for details): ================================================== We opened briefly around sunset, but nasty looking coluds moved in, so we closed. While we were closed, we found out that TCC thought we should home the mirrors. Jurek got to experience homing the mirrors. He was thrilled. We noticed around 9:30pm or so that TPM was showing "M2 Force Limit Fault!" in red. TCC reported nothing unusual. We called French. We moved the secondary by changing focus from TCC. The mirrors changed its position without a problem. French told us to look at LED indicators on the back of M2 which tells us if M2 is really at its force limit. We found out that these LEDs were not on. We reset the M2 force limit switch, but this did not clear the TPM message. Since we can move the secondary and the LEDs indicate we are clear of the force limit, French said that we should be able to operate if we opened. He said he will look at this problem tomorrow to see if he can find out what triggered the force limit and why the TPM still gave us force limit message when the LEDs indicate otherwise. This was PRed. We got voltages errors on dewar 4 and 6 tonight. We had to reset power for dewar number 4 twice and number 6 once before the voltages were back to nominal values. We noticed in the murmurlog: Jan 30 22:34:02 sdssmcp tTelnetCmd dsc_E_trcErr The MCP has rebooted and this came up every 45 sec or so. The watcher showed no error message. Atsuko called Robert from his holy sleep. It turns out that we needed to "miack". Apparently MCP has rebooted at sometime today, but no "miack" was issued. Usually, the watcher notifies us that it needs an "miack", but not this time. While doing instrument change for the NHK filiming inside the enclosure, the voltages of the camera for dewar 4, 5, 6 complained again. We had to reset the voltage for dewar #4, but not for the others -- when we did cc vcheck for chips on dewar 5 and 6. It seems the power supplies are getting flakier and flakier. I hope this will be resolved sometime soon. Dewar number 5's ln2temp also showed error the same time the voltages complained. But after clearing the error, it came back. Around 04:00, conditions looked favorable for opening again (no more snow and humidity under control, but given the last plate expired at 04:30 and the imager was dismounted with twilight coming at 05:30, there wasn't much time for any good data. (The 3.5m later reported 1.8" seeing.)
