SYNOPSIS FOR NIGHT: =================== Observed 3 plates and declared them done. TELESCOPE STATUS: ================= stowed with cart3 DIMM: ----- Variable/scattered seeing (1.0 - 2.0") throughout the night. INTERLOCKS: =========== None bypassed. SOFTWARE USED: ============== IOP/SOP: v3_17_5_4 Watcher: v2_8_3 MCP: v4_3_2b TPM: v2.0.0 AstroDa: 14_34 TCC: 2.4.0b2 WEATHER SYNOPSIS (see below for hourly data): ============================================= Mostly clear. Clumps of clouds came and went during the observation of the 2nd plate of the night. GENERAL COMMENTS (see Problems below for details): ================================================== There were clouds early in the night, but became clear by 11pm. We decided to start with cart 8 plate 389 under moony condition. We declared this plate done after 4 exposures --- Scott B., we will not ask this plate to be unplugged in case you find there are too much moonlight in the data. Please let us know after you confirm that it is really done. The seeing we were getting from the guide stars during this plate were about 1.7", and we saw few tiny clouds passing by, so we decided to stick to spectroscopy. While we were taking pre-flat for the next plate (cart 7 plate 393), we noticed that the guide star fibers 1, 2, 6, 7 and 8 did not show a nice round feature, but instead a ghostly, uneven and non-disk structure on the screen. We took 4 exposures, but we found out it was not necessary since the clouds moved away and the 3rd exposure had much improved S/N (30-33) compared to the 2nd one (11-13). We declared this plate done. Before we finished this plate, the wind has shifted to SE and the 3.5m telescope observer informed us that their seeing worsened. We therefore put cart 6 plate 397 on. We got very good S/N and finished off this plate. We declared both cart 7 plate 393 and cart 6 plate 397 done. endNight ran all the way through and we rejoiced. There was NO watcher error all night long (yeahhh!).
