SYNOPSIS FOR NIGHT: =================== One plate done. Another plate *might* be done. TELESCOPE STATUS: ================= Stowed at 30 deg alt with cart9. INTERLOCKS: =========== None bypassed SOFTWARE USED: ============== IOP/SOP: v3_17_5_2 Watcher: v2_8_3 MCP: v4_3_2b TPM: v2_0_0 AstroDa: 14_33 TCC: 2.4.0b2 WEATHER SYNOPSIS (see below for hourly data): ============================================= cloudy at the beginning, clearing later. GENERAL COMMENTS (see Problems below for details): ================================================== Is TPM logging? There is no /mcptpm/ChanArch/51783 directory. It looks like /mcptpm/51782/20000827-000000 is still getting larger. Is TPM logging tonight's data in 51782 directory instead? Is this confusion related to the work on getting the thermometer readings into TPM? The Aug.23 Control phone con discussion talked about this work being done this weekend. Is it going on right now? Opened at 1am. We started with cart 7 plate 385. With initial focus -300 and offset -8 10 got the guide stars in the fibers. The seeing was quite good (~1.7"seeing) we achieved s/n>70 in 2 exposures. After 3 exposures, we went to the next plate. The 2nd plate is cart 9, plate 395. The offset to acquire the guide stars were similar to the first cart. There were small clouds around and the seeing was varying. (from 2.0 to 2.5 or so) We kept on taking data even after the moon rise because we have not reached the desired S/N before the moon came up. Let us know how good the data is ASAP for this plate. We will not call this plate done until we have heard the official words. We forgot to stop the guider before doing the first "smear". So don't use the first "smear". grabInstrument -drop didn't drop the instrument. We logged out of the ports manually. endNight -- I was stupid and typed yesterday's MJD. After it completed, I reran the endNight and rejoiced after it finishing successfully. JL2947 is the tape with tonight's data. While taking spectro data, we started a bias run with the imager. This allowed us to see the Gang file's header info. We found out that RA and DEC for the Gangs are incorrect. PR was filed.
