Deja-vu: spectroscopy in the form of a focal plane mapping, if the weather cooperates. If conditions are not pristine enough for focal plane mapping, then spectroscopy of a science plate. SYNOPSIS FOR NIGHT: =================== The weather kept us from opening (again). Some training was done. TELESCOPE STATUS: ================= Stowed at 30 deg alt with corrector and cartridge 7 on. Cloudy all night (okay, a few small sucker holes). Humidity danced around the closure limit. We had a bit of rain at about 02:00. GENERAL COMMENTS (see Problems below for details): ================================================== Before Dark: Jon Brinkman was busy obtaining darks on the spectrographs at the request of the spectroscopists. The corrector and cartridge 7 were put on the telescope in the hope that the weather improves. We did the evening checkout and fiducialised the telescope at 20:00. After dark: Clouds and high humidity kept us closed. We spent much of the night training Bryan and Josh in IOP/SOP. !!!*** While taking biases during the SOP checkout we noted an increase in wrong num of pix errors from spectro 2! The problem is not only still with us, but appears to be getting worse. This needs to be resolved!!!*** (PR 1083). The error messages from the murmur log are attached in the problems section. We left the monitors on for anyone on-site wishing to see the severity of the problem. Steph familiarized herself with the monthly spectro checklist, but could not get too far with it. The http://plate-mapper.apo.nmsu.edu:8020/apo2d/logfile-current.html page did not update with the results from the most recent flat. The date stamp for that page is June 24. A PR was filed (SOP 1161). Perhaps this problem will be resolved when all IOP dependencies are straightened out? Some more documentation work was done.
