Focal plane mapping must be done if the weather is good even if the seeing is not photometric. We need to know how long the focal plane mapping takes (in other words, do a rehearsal of focal plane mapping). SYNOPSIS FOR NIGHT: =================== Not a fit night out for a telescope. We never opened. A few engineering tasks were done. TELESCOPE STATUS: ================= In the enclosure at alt=30 deg, with cartridge 7 mounted. INTERLOCKS: =========== none bypassed SOFTWARE USED: ============== IOP/SOP: v3_16_2 Watcher: v2_8_2 MCP: v4_2_4 TPM: v1_0_8 AstroDa: 14_28 TCC: 2.2.9 WEATHER SYNOPSIS (see below for hourly data): ============================================= Orographic clouds over us to start, then lightning and rain approaching from the north and west, then high winds, then high humidity. Winds from the east. GENERAL COMMENTS (see Problems below for details): ================================================== Atsuko and David tried again to try to get the spectrographs position in spec. In order to do this, we need goSpecFocus work. We tried goSpecFocus, but it went into infinite loop. Since we had a working goSpecFocus last week when we focused the spectrographs, we know there is a version that works, but apparently it was never checked in in time we cut v3_16_2. We found where the working version exists and plan to source it tomorrow. Larry Carey, Dan & Steph addressed the out-of-focus cartridge 2 issue. Larry made measurements at the slithead of cartridge 2 and in-focus cartridges 6 and 4, and believes he knows how to adjust the index pin to bring the fiber ends into better focus. The rest of the night we waited for the weather to improve, to no avail. We left cartridge 7 on the telescope, which has the FASTT field plate to be used for focal-plane mapping.
