Subject: 2.5m obs log 20000507 (mjd 51672) Date: Mon, 8 May 2000 04:35:26 -0600 (MDT) From: hayes@apo.nmsu.edu (Jeffrey Hayes) [mail to: obs-report-25m@apo.nmsu.edu include MJD in subject] Sunday May 07 2000 Apache Point Observatory SDSS 2.5m Observing Log (MJD 51672) OBSERVING TEAM: =============== Jeffrey Hayes (APO) - shift 2 Ellyne Kinney (APO) - shift 2 Eric Neilsen (JHU) PT VISITORS: ========= THE PLAN: ========= Due to clouds, spectra. SYNOPSIS FOR NIGHT: =================== We tried to do spectra from Cartridge 9, plate 306. Clouds were mostly in evidence for all of the night, and so even spectroscopy was not possible. We put on cartridge 8 in hopes of a better tomorrow. TELESCOPE STATUS: ================= DIMM: ----- Open and reporting anywhere from 1.5'' to 3'' seeing. INTERLOCKS: =========== None bypassed. SOFTWARE USED: ============== IOP/SOP: v3_13_1branch_1 Watcher: v2_8_2 MCP: v4_2_4 TPM: v1_0_8 AstroDa: 14_24 TCC: 2.2.5 WEATHER SYNOPSIS (see below for hourly data): ============================================= Not photometric. At 00:45 clouds rolled in from the SW and covered the area of interest for our spectra. We could not open for the rest of the night due to clouds in the entire S half of the sky. GENERAL COMMENTS (see Problems below for details): ================================================== We fiducialised the telescope by 00:45. Ellyne noted that the air conditioning was *not* running when she arrived, and that midway through the fiducials she had to reboot the MCP when it froze-up and refused to respond. The reboot and the susequent fiducials where set without further incident. There are a number of low pressures in the downstairs to report: TEC coolers: spectro is 22 when it should be 28 camera is 14 when it should be 17 N2 bottle has a pressure less than 40 when it should be 40. On closing down for the night, we had to reboot the laptop. We did this okay. endNight was run successfully.
