Is posting them to this mailing list sufficient, or is it better to extract his suggestions and post them in the observer's procedure manual? Would it help to post a copy on or near the tape drives and crates? Who maintains the written, printed, or electronic procedures? thanks! I have extracted and edited the following two procedures: -------------------------------------- OPERATING PROCEDURE #1: Having all of the VME computers in a crate go bad simutaneously is likely due to a PTVME problem. When there it a PTVME problem, please observe and record the state of indicator lights on the PTVME card in the crate with bad ICC's reported. -------------------------------------- -------------------------------------- OPERATING PROCEDURE #2 It is critical not to reboot crates with tapes which have not been rewound and unloaded. Please be sure that all tape drives have the green "Operate Handle" LED lit, indicating that the tapes are unloaded, before you press the red button to reset a crate. When communications to a crate are down ("Bad ICC" messages), this means you must manually unload tapes (press the Unload Tape button on the front panel of the tape drives). Note that it may take some time for the rewind to complete. --------------------------------------
