Subject: log 51600 addendum Date: Sat, 26 Feb 2000 08:40:53 -0700 (MST) From: sjnk@apo.nmsu.edu (Scot Kleinman) Regarding the secondary problems, I spoke with Russell this morning and here is our theory of what happened: 1) the secondary motion motors froze due to the low temperatures (-10C) and thus did not execute the set focus commands we were issuing. Russell thinks this is because the movement velocity was set too high - higher than he thought it should be for successful cold weather operation. He has since lowered the velocity so they should work better now. 2) the failure to do a successful XQ#HOME was operator error in that I think I forgot to use capitals letters for my axis assignments (ex. A=1 instead of what I did: a=1), although I did remember to use caps for the XQ# commands. Sorry. 3) Things should be fine tonight, but we should exercise the secondary once it gets cold again and make sure things work ok. Scot
