We decided to try the "ccdwarm" command Connie requested that we become familiar with. At first all went well as her documents said. We issued checked the voltages and the temperatures of the CCDs before issuing any command, then tried warmccd command, checked the voltages and temperatures of the CCDs, then sent vdefault and iack commands to bring the voltages back to default. We sent few more tcheck and vcheck commands to make sure all went back to normal. Then suddenly, after successfully executing them few times, we no longer got any response issuing vcheck and tcheck commands. The watcher showed that it only occasionally talking to the server, and we got keep_alive_fault critical errors. We decided to kill the current server and restart the server. But this did not help. We made a phone call to Connie who told us to power cycle the camera. We went to the enclosure and rebooted. We then iacked and did vcheck/tcheck and found that vdd1 and vdd2 voltages are not 24V as they should be but at 15V. Connie's docs indicated that issuing vdefault and then iack commands will set the voltages to where the camera works at its best. This finally made the voltages back to normal (24V), but we got "keep_alive_fault"critical errors beeping for few times before it stopped. We also got vdd1 and vdd2 errors on ccd61 and 62 (the red numbers were 24.26 and 24.32 respectively). While we were wondering why we were getting these errors, we start getting "no reply" from camera serial line errors. At this point, when we tried another t(v)check, we got no response. The camera shut down again. So we power cycled the camera again. We checked the voltages to see if we got response and saw that VDD1 and VDD2 were 15V. We then issued iack. iack didn't bring the vdd voltages to 24V. At this point, we called up Connie again to see what to do since vdefault doesn't seem to bring the vdd voltages to where they should be and if they are not, it triggers the keep_alive_fault errors and then the camera to shut down. We learned a command setvddnom which sets the vdd voltages to where they should be. We then did camcheck to make sure everything was fine. CCD24 showed being out of spec (vdd1=24.24V), but after waiting for about 5 min or so vcheck indicated that they were in spec (with the same vdd1=24.42Vi -- time delay in recognizing that vdd1 is in spec caused this "out of spec" message?) After hearing that all was well, Connie went back to sleep (we hope). IMPORTANT NOTE: Observers, don't try "warmccd" command until we hear from Connie again.
