SYNOPSIS FOR NIGHT: =================== We finished 4 plates: 420, 403, 409, and 412. No imaging. Clouds passing through all night and variable seeing. TELESCOPE STATUS: ================= Opened: 17:30- fans turned on and doors opened ~16:10. opened again ~20:30 Closed: 19:50. again at ~03:00. At 30deg with Cart 8 mounted. DIMM: ===== Not on. Humidity and clouds up and end of night. GENERAL COMMENTS (see Problems below for details): ================================================== Not photometric at the start of the night and forecast called for a front and snow around midnight. We started with spectroscopy. gotoField on the first plate had 5 stars appear right away! We checked the focus during twilight, and got science started just afterwards. Clouds and humidity started moving in seriously around 19:15,so we finished the third exposure and calibs and closed to await better conditions. Conditions improved almost immediately; we re-opened around 20:30. We noted in cartridge 2, guide fibers 2,3 and 4 are filthy! What should we do about it? We noticed that since we did the preCalibs after the first exposure of plate 403 (or maybe not "since", but just coincidentally), SoS never popped up the SN^2 on the first exposure (pre-preCalib). Is this a bug or was something else going on? The preCalib for cart 8 plate 411 failed at our first attempt, but worked on our second. Details in the Problem section below. We observed this plate way past its time, but we had no other choice plates from which to choose. At around 4:00, we realized we had NO voltage values for the camera in the watcher. None. Zero. Zilch. Yes, the watcher said "no connection" but it always does when running SOP, so we were unconcerned. The servers looked fine, but we did a reconnect and nothing changed. We restarted the servers, did a new reconnect and things came back to life. What happened??? We also did a grabInst -drop in SOP and it didn't. We had to logout the ports by hand, even after exiting SOP. This is a DANGEROUS state of things. This PR is still active. We changed it back from needstest to assigned. We ran endNight -dpSpectro around 05:00.
