Imaging if possible, else spectroscopy. SYNOPSIS FOR NIGHT: =================== Never opened. High humidity until 20:30. High winds and blowing snow for the remainder of the evening. TELESCOPE STATUS: ================= Stowed at 30 deg alt with cartridge 8 on. Counterweights at 280. INTERLOCKS: =========== none bypassed SOFTWARE USED: ============== IOP/SOP: v3_19_1 Watcher: v2_8_6 MCP: v4_3_9 TPM: v2_1_3 AstroDa: 14_34 TCC: 2.4.1 WEATHER SYNOPSIS (see below for hourly data): ============================================= Started out snowing. Cleared before sunset but high humidity and blowing snow kept us closed. The humidity dropped well below the closing limits by 20:30 but sustained wind speeds of 25 mph caused substantial amounts of blowing snow and we remained closed. Wind gusts greater than the closing limit (> 35 mph) also occurred frequently. GENERAL COMMENTS (see Problems below for details): ================================================== Early in the evening we noticed that the humidity reading had not changed in a while. A phone conversation with Craig Loomis helped us solve the problem. The air intake for the site humidity sensor was clogged with ice. Clearing the ice from the device solved the problem. We were closed due to high humidity. The humidity dropped to acceptable levels by 20:30 but high winds and blowing snow forced us to remain closed. At 3:14 the watcher reported an out of spec voltage for CCD 4 of spectrograph 1. The voltage was only slightly out of spec for a brief time. At 4am it was decided that even if conditions allowed us to open before twilight there was not enough time to accomplish anything significant and so we called it a night. endNight 51867 doTpm was run. PROBLEMS: ========= Humidity Sensor --------------- The air intake for the humidity sensor for the site was blocked by ice causing the relative humidity reading to become stuck. The ice was removed from the device and the sensor began functioning properly again. The corrective procedure was logged into FOLKLORE by Steph. Voltage out of spec ------------------- The voltage for CCD 4 on spectrograph 1 was slightly out of spec for several minutes. At 3:14, the reading was as follows: VLG 101 -6.01 V -6.09 V* 204 15 289* By 3:18, the voltage was back in spec.
