Finish off the collimation. Some slow rotator motion in cold weather condition. Connie's bias test. SYNOPSIS FOR NIGHT: =================== Clouds, humidity, wind prevented us from opening and therefore we could not fine tune the collimation. We checked slow rotator motion and did bias tests for Connie. TELESCOPE STATUS: ================= Opened: Closed: DIMM: ===== INTERLOCKS: =========== none bypassed SOFTWARE USED: ============== IOP/SOP: v3_20_1 Watcher: v2_8_6 MCP: v4_3_8 TPM: v2_1_3 AstroDa: 14_34 TCC: 2.4.1 WEATHER SYNOPSIS (see below for hourly data): ============================================= Clouds everywhere. Rain sensor went off few times but we could not see or feel any rain. Some snow blown around by wind triggering the rain sensor? Later in the night, when the clouds started to get thinner, the humidity went up. By the time humidity started to drop below closing condition, the wind speed went up. GENERAL COMMENTS (see Problems below for details): ================================================== Scot successfully fixed the messages we get when we do "endDrift". (Doing a cameraDetach, and spawning makeRunLog. Error: child process exited abnormally). He checked in his changes. Jon worked on the auto-fill system. The system seems to work well on the bench, but not when it is mounted on the spectrographs. He will continue to work on it tomorrow afternoon. The primary was homed and relaxed again. Since MIGS were rebooted during the day time, we thought it will be better to home and relax and compare the numbers to what we had last night. The numbers were very close to the ones we got after our 1st, 3rd and 4th homing and relaxing last night. The MIGS for the primary are recorded in the mirror section below. Plug-mapper data base shows sunset time at 16:60... Steve, can you change it so that 16:60 will be 17:00? Also, if you can display UT in HH:MM instead of decimal hours, I will appreciate it. Rotator test -- sanity check to ensure the rotator is still working at colder temperature condition. We tried 100, 50, 10, -500, -100, -50 and -10 cnt/s speed. The command voltage was smooth and within the tolerances during the test. Here are the results of the test. We took bias frames with the imager on the telescope. After about 10 frames, we switched the t-bar to maintenance (dog house position) and took another 10 frames. The t-bar was back to operation position after we took these test biases. We did NOT declare iop v3_20_1 current. A fix to PR SOP/1224 has now an added new bug which can lead us to take data and have sp1 and sp2 data frame number be out of sync (see observing log from Nov. 7). We will run this dark run with v3_19_1.
