Date: Fri, 29 May 1998 05:25:04 -0600 From: long@apo.nmsu.edu (Dan Long) Subject: 2.5m night report 980528 THURSDAY MAY 28, 1998 APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5m OBSERVING LOG The telescope was open most of the day. It was open from 10 AM on. The encoders were checked for scale accuracy. Right now the scale factor is Az -1.0270 El -1.0279 R 1.0256 Again we were blessed with great weather. It was clear all night with light winds. The data was showing fwhm of 1.1 to 1.2 arcseconds for the first part of the night and got a little worse toward the end. We were on the sky and taking data starting at about 21:30. After the moon set and we found out where we were in declination, the telescope was moved in elevation such that the gaps between the chips from last night's scan were covered by tonight's. The scan overlap finished at about 03:00. Data taking stopped at about 05:00 and the building was closed shortly thereafter. At this point it appears the data is in hand to create a filled stripe of at least 2 hours in length of which an hour is in the survey area. Dan
